I think SoC is the first game I've played where I make a billion save files for a reason other than record keeping and save game corruption protection. I had 3 saves, and still managed to nearly get myself stuck to a point where I couldn't stay alive. My first experience with radiation was interesting. I got a stash anomaly and jumped off the bus it was on, started walking to my objective, and noticed the radiation meter turned green. Despite having almost no weight, I couldn't make it to any shops in time and didn't have enough medkits to have it go down on its own.

Hello fellow stalkers. I just downloaded ShOC and am woefully uneducated. Should I play through vanilla, then get mods, or mods from the start? What mods are good for people with no clue what they're doing? The most I know about this game is that its hard as all fuck.

So far, my experience with ShOC has been both immensely frustrating but also very rewarding. I went to help Bes with his ambush, which made me realize STALKER something I find incredible detestable in mission based games: the mission giver dying fails the mission. I had 1 bandit left to kill and Bes decides he's rambo and runs straight for him, dying in the process. It's all cool though, because the second time I did it, I completed it without a hitch... until a second wave of bandits overran the camp after I had started looting the dead bodies. In the end though, I got Bes' shiny silenced AKM, a bunch of ammo for my guns, and more bandages than I know what to do with.

Don't carry around too much of the same shit. Unload and drop guns you aren't planning on using/that are fucked up, stash supplies (ammo, food, meds, etc.) in a stash spot you'll easily remember about, and make sure to snoop around for artifacts.

What's a "goal" weight to be carrying? I think I'm at around 25kg currently and that seems like a lot. I just dropped 4 pistols, 2 Viper 5s, and a bunch of other crap I didn't want.

Jesus christ SGM is unforgiving. Getting one/two shot by bandits all day every day in the Cordon railway bridge. Probably my fault for using glorious pmm + sunrise suit combo though, in addition to the fact that I suck.

Hey I'm trying to enable game data in the fsgame.ltx file ( $game_data$ = true|true|$fs_root$|gamedata\ it should look like this) But whenever I go to save the file it says : Cannot create the C:\program files(86) THQ\ STALKER-SOC\fsgame.ltx file. Make sure the path and file name are correct. Can I get some help?
