Just finished the vanilla version of it.
Any mods that give it a bit more content? The world was awfully small and there wasn't much to do as compared to SoC.
What CoP are you playing?
CoP had much more to it than SoC, and was much less linear.

Yeah, but there were only three(?) main areas. Stalarkskchy, Yanov and Pripyat. Whereas pripyat had the least amount of stuff to do and Yanov had the most. Not counting the X-labs or anything, because they were story levels.
SoC might have been more linear, but the world itself had more content. IMO.

I was fighting chimera at Izumrudnoye and she jumped right on that chicken.
WEIRD SHIT
Wow. Vanilla STALKER's lighting model is awful compared to Float32.

Throw Float32 2.0's lighting model changes on top (I believe its a model based on the Cook-Torrance method, replacing STALKER's default Blinn-Phong (Not sure on this!) lighting..)

It makes the vanilla weather cycles look good.
And just for posterity's sake, F32's lighting model with SSAO.

Gosh, I'm such a nerd/graphics whore.

I must bore you guys with my recent constant shader talk. Sorry. :v:
stuff
If you're looking for more content such as quests and that sort of deal, I can heartily recommend Sigerous Mod (SGM), Way to Pripyat (total conversion), Winter of Death (kind of clusterfuck-ish even compared to SGM) and maybe Swartz mod (it's economy is totally fucked up though).
If you want a more active / hostile A-life with most of the game staying in tact, I would recommend M.S.O+AtmosFear 3 which makes the day-to-day stalking much more varied and enjoyable.
A thing to note about SGM is that versions 1.7 and 2.x are radically different in that 1.7 only has the CoP maps (but still includes a lot of quests, new weapons, being able to join factions et cetera) while SGM 2.x starts you at Cordon and features a couple other CS maps as well. Some people regard this as a positive, others feel that the earlygame in the SoC / CS areas in SGM is a pointless slog but you can only really judge if you play it yourself.

Not at all, I find it very interesting.
i have no idea about any of the terminology he's using
what the hell are SSAO, blinn-phong and all that fancy shit
i have no idea about any of the terminology he's using

SSAO = Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, its a cheap method to accentuate lighting in games. It creates those dark shadows in the corners.
Blinn-phong, Cook-Torrance are just two different lighting/reflectivity models or code. They create the reflection of light on materials. Cook-torrance, in this situation, is the better model.
All the fancy shit = Wizard shit. :v:
The guy who made Float32 is dead :C
The guy who made Float32 is dead :C
Supposedly. I think he just had testicular cancer or something like that.

I remember reading somewhere that this guy was the one who made Float32 or did part of it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hahn

I'm pretty sure that's false. The guy who made Float32's name is Cameron Sneed, I'm fairly sure. And he has activity as recent as 8 months ago on Youtube.

I was somewhat right. Apparently Cameron Sneed recreated David Hahn's nuclear reactor in his shed. I knew there was a solid connection between the two.
I'm sorry Beacon, but I can not work and go online today. Family issues. Now I can only work and go online on Sunday weekly.
I broke my promise and I deserve to die. I hope this does not slow down Redux2's progress :(
Oh damn sorry to hear that mate, hope things are alright. You're sweet though, don't worry about it - the rate you work at even every sunday is better than other people!

Yeah..that.
I think we went over this several threads back.

He even left a comment in the article.
I like how in the first 30 minutes of SoC you can get a gun that'll carry you throughout the entire game. :v:

umm ignore the max weight, I was testing something and forgot to revert it.

It's quite possible to complete the entire game (bad ending) using only a Makarov.
So yeah, I guess.

True. But I'm saying for a normal player, the 5.45 Groza will probably last throughout a good chunk of the game.
[sub][sub][sub]at least it would for me...[/sub][/sub][/sub]

I picked it up from Barin(I think) when I played vanilla for the first time ever, and I kept it around until Red Forest, when it decided to jam every 15 shots.
Supposedly. I think he just had testicular cancer or something like that.
Oh maybe I'm wrong. I do remember talking about it a few threads ago though. Either way, he decided to be stupid and *almost* kill himself with radiation.

why would you steal from the almighty Barin, even his corpse?
GODDAMMIT!
Looks like a quest to find a unique artifact at Kordon is broken for me.
Checked entire location with svarog and he isn't there.
Decided to try that SGM mod, the translations are hilarious.
The map seems pretty weird, Cordon being right under Pripyat for example. I am guessing that it really isn't meant to be Cordon and it is just using the map.

14 souls!
Uh, souls refer to individuals or men. It's actually a pretty common term, especially when one is talking about passengers on something.

except no one who speaks english actually says that unless they're from the 1940s
except no one who speaks english actually says that unless they're from the 1940s
Well to be fair, its a game featuring an alternate universe and Russians/Ukrainians whose first language probably isn't English so they might not be current on English slang or terminology. Plus souls sounds much more epic than "guys" or "people".

Of course I know souls refer to people, I'm not stupid. It is still probably a mistranslation, just like this:
