I knew SGM was going to be good when I died 2 minutes in after stabbing a chicken.
I knew SGM was good when me and my guide to Skadovsk were ambushed by a huge swarm of fleshes.
I knew SGM was good when basic mutants could take full mag dumps to the skull and still be able to bum rush me. I thought I was gonna be reinstalling CoP before I went to bed only to discover it was actually already installed.
I knew SGM was fucking brilliant when I saw the NPC sprints
They cover more distance in a shorter time than a chimera can.
I knew SGM was good when I did the Barge mission.
It was exactly what I had expected from the mod and it gave it to me full fucking force.

I knew SGM was good when it crashed the first time I installed it.
Since we're on the topic of SGM, I just wanted to say that Noah's Barge mission was rather easy-modo for me. All I needed was a high capacity assault rifle, a shotgun and a sniper rifle.
The mutants had me use up all my assault rifle rounds so I had to get down and dirty with the shotgun after a while and I rarely needed the sniper rifle for anything besides the controllers and for when the more powerful mutants came in. Noah's pals, David and all did a really good job at defending the Barge on their own, taking on chimaeras and other mean muties. By the end of it, I still had about three of Noah's pals standing, counting David.
Pass out after staying up for 29 hours > sleep for 18 hours > wake up at 6 AM, get tea, start working on STALKER shaders again

Watch out for Drop Boars.
The only thing we need now in SoC are CoP's vastly improved shadow cascades. CoP's sun shadows are beautiful, even in the default R2(DX9) renderer.

I was actually trying to get CoP's DX9 steep parallax working but all it did was broke parallax entirely :v:
could just use Sky4CE's but it looks awful

No. I'm using Float32 as a base.
Performance is slightly worse than yours when I did a quick check, I need to do an actual benchmark though.
And honestly your shaders are awful to work with, removing whitespace makes it fucking hell to work with.

Yeah. It is a bitch to read but the game seems to love it.
Looks like we won't be seeing Lost Alpha for a while.

I've seen all the teaser videos and while the maps look amazing the voice work leaves a lot to be desired. If GSC are involved I think they'd want to make sure they do a proper job and it doesn't look like it'll be a free Mod release anymore.

Highly unlikely. They'll probably do all the work and Sergei/GSC will take credit for it.
If the team don't see any of it that would be tremendously disappointing. I think Tarasov is going to hook them up with a bit of green at least when he wins his libel case against GSC, though. That's something :)
