Player's homeworld is somehow destroyed and player's escape pod comes across a derelict spaceship is all we know.
are you sure? it sounded to me like the player is like a loner or exile from their species by choosing to explore the stars instead of sitting around doing the dogmatic crap the rest of the race does (lone glitch people who realize they aren't still in medieval times and florans who decide not to consume every non-plant life they come across, etc)
Yep, the part with the players homeworld being destroyed has already been confirmed ages ago.
Will there be a kickass cutscene like the end of Super Metroid?
The presence of $60 worries me. The only reason to put that on there aside from kicks and giggles would be if they actually expect the full game to be $60 full price, right?
That's a stretch. I highly doubt they included higher prices seriously considering that people would want them. They likely included them just to be through and/or as a joke.
That's a stretch. I highly doubt they included higher prices seriously considering that people would want them. And there's nothing wrong with wanting to see if they would. They do need to make money after all and they've put in a ton of work on this game.
And there's nothing wrong with wanting to see if they would. They do need to make money after all and they've put in a ton of work on this game.
Indeed. If they asked for 60 dollars, I would likely pay it. I would not be HAPPY about it, but I would pay it. After all, when you go to gamestop and put down 60 bucks for a PS3/360/Wii-U game, do you complain? No, you expect those games to be about 60 bucks. Why would you begrudge an indy developer that amount? Because you don't feel like you should have to pay that much? Because most of them are willing to sell their product for 15-25 bucks? It has a double standard to it. The big companies get to charge out the ass, while the Indies better not ask for more than 20 because they're 'one of us'. Like how you might expect a friend to help you move without paying them, and get mad when they ask for some money for gas and time even though it's a perfectly reasonable thing to ask. These guys worked over a year to try and iron this thing out as best as they could, accomplishing more in that time than Terraria did in its entire run, and that's just what we KNOW of. There's more we don't. And I'm not going to say stupid shit like "I'm disappointed in you", because I know no one here would care. And I'm sure some of you are just hoping it's cheap because you're tight on cash, that's cool too. Really, I just wanted to put something in perspective for the entitled people here in this thread who were all like, "They BETTER not have it more than 15 or I won't buy it".

No, you expect those games to be about 60 bucks.
Actually I think most games should be no more than $30 and rarely pay more than $40 for a game. To me at that price it just isn't worth it. As I said in WAYT just the other day, I can only think of three games I paid $60 or more for. Guitar Hero 3 which was due to the controllers, God of War II's collector edition which I played quite a lot, and Skyrim which I don't like as much as earlier TES games but still have played a lot. If Starbound turns out to be as good as it's sounding I would be willing to pay about $40, $50 would be kinda pushing it. Even for games I would pay that much for, I wouldn't be happy about it. I really don't think the game will be even $30 in the end though honestly. (Although $30 would be an extremely fair price in my onion if the game turns out as good as it sounds/looks so far.)
Really, I just wanted to put something in perspective for the entitled people here in this thread who were all like, "They BETTER not have it more than 15 or I won't buy it".
Which no one said ever.
Sorry if this seems like a really stupid question, but where would the pre-order be available at? Steam, their website, or both?
After all, when you go to gamestop and put down 60 bucks for a PS3/360/Wii-U game, do you complain?
I generally don't pay that much, if a game costs that much I wait for it's price to drop and/or for a sale. I don't have enough money to waste that much on every game I buy.
Sorry if this seems like a really stupid question, but where would the pre-order be available at? Steam, their website, or both?
Well they already confirmed the game would be on Steam just opening their new pre-order beta section, it just might be on steam. I don't really know though.
From what I've seen so far and what was promised in the outcome; this game is easily worth $20.

But i agree, with the pricing thing, if a small group of people can eat a bunch of code and poop out a gem it should easily be worth about 25$ nowadays, the big companies charge 60$ for the newer console games partially cause of all the cost that went into making it but I'd almost have to flat out guess at minimum 25$ of it is profit nowadays for big name devs like bungie, activision, EA, Ubi, Enix, microsoft, nintendo, capcom, all of em. and i can tell by some of the quality of though put into a game mechanics over how good it looks. you could make a game look like Crysis but if it plays like crap I'll only want about what you'd charge for a new movie. if capcom made a Monster hunter game that looked like crysis, pumped up the combat mechanics and AI, and made no place unreachable, it'd be worth 60$. but when your selling a handheld version which is in only one way different from a console version, it does not add 20$ to the price. when they are gameplay wise and graphically the same, it does not justify another 20$ be added to the price.
In my onion i have pikmin.
That was uh... Just my way of showing that my opinion stinks and makes people cry! :v:
Those 5 assholes who voted no preorder
I'm fine with it being in the $10-$20 range myself. I am actually quite surprised so few people so far voted for $5 though.
Those 5 assholes who voted no preorder
I can totally dig that, preorders are bullshit. Admittedly I'm still pretty sore after ACM though(What the fuck was I thinking?).
How are preorders bullshit?
I can totally dig that, preorders are bullshit. Admittedly I'm still pretty sore after ACM though(What the fuck was I thinking?).
ACM was a totally different situation. We know this is the devs' priority, the price is more than affordable, and we've seen quality from them already.
How are preorders bullshit?
I think he means the kind that have ridiculous bonuses that should just be part of the game itself.
i'll go up to 40$ max. i fucking love these type of game, i just got terraria on ps3 even if i have it on pc
if this game is anywhere near the hype it's garnished, i would be willing to pay full price for this, but ideally i would like to see it between 20 -30 because these guys are working hard on this game
15 bucks sounds mad reasonable.
15 bucks sounds best for launch price, 10 bucks for preorder. well well, lookie here Woah nelly and another
what if it had cortex command particles and cortex's brutal combat
what if it had cortex command particles and cortex's brutal combat
GOTY every year.
what if it had cortex command particles and cortex's brutal combat
More importantly, crab rockets.
15 bucks sounds best for launch price, 10 bucks for preorder.
I personally think that if the game isn't just overhyped that preorders should be $15-20 and the full game should be $20-30. I'm all for cheap games but this is one time where the dev's effort and attention to detail seems to deserve more.
neat but noone seems to be able to do decent looking flamethrowers in 2D
neat but noone seems to be able to do decent looking flamethrowers in 2D
When you mention it... That flamethrower looks like the spartan laser from Halo or future like RPG.
