I think about all of this crap too much
Lasers should be a low damage but damage sustained over time weapon while guns should be projectile base. Would make a little bit more sense I think.
Then in the end it is only there for visual variation and people get upset :v:
With all the randomized stuff, it'll be a bit surprising if lasers and bullets won't have any unique modifiers.

it's either 5/9+6 and 5+9/6
so it's 15th of May (5/15) for US and 14th of June (14/6) for the rest of the world

It's not really reassuring, no. Maybe I should just forget about this game altogether and be surprised when I one day tumble in to this thread and see all the "OMG 1 WEKK TO GO!!!!" posts. It happened with Bioshock Infinite.

Agreed. A bit too optimistic for my tastes with the 2013 rhetoric. Even on features they say they have at 100% complete, they say they want to do more with them and before release, not after.

The quests & missions tab seems to give the impression that there wont be player owned npcs. Seems the only ones you encounter will be independent.

I am perfectly happy with this. I got real sick of building houses for those lazy fuckers in Terraria.
I like how the ship needs fuel
instead of just jumping around freely to 50 different planets, you have to deal with whatever one you find until you get enough fuel to leave

Actually if you pay attention to Star Trek phasers they're the type I'm talking about. Just in the shows and movies they tend to be fired in short bursts because they're fairly powerful in the series. The only times I can think of where they used sustained bursts were occasions when they needed to destroy sections of something or heat something up rather than using them as weapons. But they do actually function the way I was talking about.

I can see a multiplayer career as a space fuel sheikh, bomb all of the planets that have fuel except one and turn it into a death star/diner&gas station and then bleed other players dry(dohhohhoo) with gas prices.

I loved it as it gave an actual incentive to build a somewhat functional base, and I think it was too easy as they needed nothing but a box with a table and a chair.
We're supposed to have crew in some form regardless of what the roadmap does not say about them, but that's all we know.
By the way the average of progress is about 70% if I calculated it right.
