I hope Starbound is going to get Steam Workshop support somehow, considering how simple it seems from the roadmap to add new items and blocks, with even the advanced things requiring only LUA scripts.

Imagine if there was an option where you could change what assets the random generation uses, so you could set it to use just those created by the Devs, or those as well as the Workshop components you're subscribed to or you could set it to use components from the whole workshop if you want some really unpredictable shit.

the avians look really mesoamerican/aztec in style from what i see, and thats cool because there arent nearly enough aztec things in games.

They'll probably do something cool for that date. Maybe there's some cool thing they plan to release, like an update to the character creator.

based on their architecture and armor it seems like a cross between mesoamerican and ancient greek/roman

I'm not going to dictate how humans look, but I can promise you that they will have an interesting history, and they will be very relevant to the overarching backstory.
Since the florans engage in cannibalism, does that make them vegetarians?

I'm pretty sure that was only implied and not explicitly stated.
What the description most likely means is that they eat their dead, but it may also imply that they eat their kind alive, and possibly, however unlikely, eat other humanoids.
