I want other dinosaurs. A future race of sentient upright raptors would be cool.
Something like this always gets posted when someone says what budspoonce said. Why does it sound to me like you're just trying to convince that every delay makes the game objectively better, and that delays are good :v:
I agree, just look at DNF. Longer development time does not make a better game. This also means a game with a slightly shorter development time doesn't have to be bad.
I agree, just look at DNF. Longer development time does not make a better game. My point still stands though, a game doesn't need a long development time or infinite delays to be good.

Despite them scrapping stuff, they never really 'started over from scratch'. In the DNF we have today, you can clearly see levels and shit that were in earlier version of DNF. Would have been crazy for them to dump 10 years worth of work. Even under the totally inept leadership of 3DRealms, they never totally scrapped everything.

And it's arguably one of the most successful competitive shooters ever released.
Development time does not directly matter to the customer but early hype does.
Team Fortress 2 went through a ton of iterations and they started from scratch a fair few times from what I recall. And it's arguably one of the most successful competitive shooters ever released.
I think we're starting to lose sight of the initial point. Or maybe I am, and I'm just getting confused as hell for some reason. I also realize I misread what the other guy said, when he said 'pretty much started from scratch' instead of which I interpreted as 'completely'. Alright, so let me straighten my self out: Both games were in development for a really long time. Starting over doesn't somehow reset the time they spent developing the game, as iterations regardless of however much of it made it through to one build or the next still have some influence over the direction of the game. There, that's what I was trying to say. I think.

A mix between TFC and Firearms, how awesome
Difference is with this game they're actually using all this extra development time to polish things up instead of redesigning the game.
What TF2 was originally going to be Would have been cool. A mix between TFC and Firearms, how awesome
those textures are soo blurry ;*(
Has there been streams lately? I haven't seen any for weeks but I might've been on at wrong times.
As many have said, the development time doesn't directly affect the game. Sure, some successful games have been in development for a long time. Doesn't really mean a good game needs a long development time to be successful. Could've been in development under a year if all went really good.
those textures are soo blurry ;*(
But they're screenshots from the 90's man!
Have any more hidden armors been found in the C. Creator?
someone found a small easter egg on the starbound roadmap, type this into the address bar while you're on the roadmap: javascript:drownMolly() You can also toggle an admin mode and fuck about with the roadmap if you type in javascript:toggleAdminMode(); into the address bar. Furthermore someone found a preorder button

I would be against the longer development time if the time was spent on redesigning the whole game, but since they are using it to finish off the already planned features before release, I fully support them
I agree, just look at DNF. Longer development time does not make a better game. This also means a game with a slightly shorter development time doesn't have to be bad.
But in this case longer development times means they're finishing up the incomplete parts and polishing those that are technically complete. In DNF's case the game got stuck in development hell for years due to a lack of funding, multiple studios taking over production at multiple times, and several redesigns. DNF is really only a good example of a game getting too hyped and not being able to live up to expectations.
Littlefoot?
give me the treestars bee-uch
Not doing anything for me
Give it a shot in a different browser, it doesn't work for me in FF either.
Give it a shot in a different browser, it doesn't work for me in FF either.
That worked. Totally worth it too.
Doesn't do shit for me in Chrome or IE. Can someone make a video or something?
just hit f12 in chrome and stick it in the dev console also, you need the semicolon
javascript:drownMolly();
It makes the person on the moon fall off into the water
I sent in a submission for OP. Just a Cardinal-styled bird. Nothing more, nothing less. Tweet tweet, motherfuckers.

However, let's say you make a perfect clone of the development team, and make them work on the exact same project, except with less time with it, that's obviously not going to be as polished as the first team, you dig?

When's the time when a game doesn't need the extra time to become better?
Then where's the cutoff point? When's the time when a game doesn't need the extra time to become better?
When the developers think the game is finished, silly.
