sure, that's because Source 2 has actually been announced.
i'm fairly sure you'll immediately jump on the hype train the second another Half Life gets announced, just like everyone else.
that is if it gets announced in this lifetime.
Amen.
Unlike how black mesa used to be, we've actually been getting regular updates on development.
We used to get development updates constantly at first, and then they kind of dropped out of the world. Then, after announcing and missing a release date and a small bit of media, they dropped out of the world again up until a few months before the release finally hit.
But we did start out with regular development updates, hope Starbound doesn't start dropping out.

I'm not so sure about that. HL, HL2 and the episodes (well maybe not ep 1 as much) were all fantastic, absolutely. HL3 will probably be as good as those. I'm not one of those people that clamor at every event Valve Devs or Gabe happens to attend looking for a HL3 announcement.
Unless they show something really spectacular with the engine, I won't be beating down their door for it to some out.
Also, could someone illuminate me as to what was 'dumb' about my previous post? It only contained my personal opinion and factual information that Gabe had said at some point or another about how the episodic content model had not worked for Valve and that they were just making a full game. Had that information been refuted?
Once the beta is out they'll be less inclined to push the release further.
Once the beta is out they'll be less inclined to push the release further.
Or it could encourage them to keep pushing the release back and turn the game into a perpetual beta, like Don't Starve is.

That is also a possiblity, but after all their one and only reason so far for delaying is to get us an as finished as possible product.
Amen.
i dont get it
Site is down, is is habbening?
At moments like these, I just tell myself nothing is happening. Because most of the time, nothing is happening.
Quick, everyone preorder so much that we bring down the preorder site.
i don't know why everyone's getting hyped over being able to pre-order

Beta soon.
@tiy on irc posted:
<@Tiy> are you guys going to help me spread the word when the preorder goes live?
<@Tiy> make the earth shake with the power of our tweets
<@Tiy> I dont want to promise tomorrow, because if I do and then something happens to stall it
<@Tiy> everyone will murder me with rusty spoons
<@Tiy> we're TRYING for tomorrow though
<@Tiy> Pixel tier - 1x copy of the full game, when its ready. 1x copy of the beta, when its ready, 1x starbound soundtrack, 1x experimental soundtrack (66 tracks total i believe)
<@Tiy> Pixel tier 4 pack - all of the above x4
<@Tiy> Silver tier, all of the above + a contributors penguin forum badge
<@Tiy> Silver tier 4 pack
<@Tiy> Gold Tier - all the above, the forum badge is tier 2, you get to name an NPC
<@Tiy> Diamond tier - all the above, tier 3 forum badge, you get to name an npc and your name goes in the credits
<@Tiy> Platinum Tier - all above, tier 4 forum badge, you get to name an npc, name goes in credits + you get to design a hat
<@Tiy> Solarium Tier - game (when ready), beta (when ready), soundtrack, tier 5 badge, name npc, name in credits, design a weapon (its design, how it fires/swings)
<@Tiy> Impervium Tier - game (when ready), beta (when ready), soundtrack, tier 6 badge, name npc, name in credits, get a statue of yourself in the game as an object
<@Tiy> and finally
<@Tiy> Avian Tier (Price: Free) - no game/soundtrack, but you get a nifty forum badge in return for tweeting about the game
<@Tiy> The high level tiers are pretty expensive, kickstarter style, theyre for people who really want to invest in us
<@Tiy> but I think the base price is good, $15 for the game + a 66 track soundtrack
<@Rekalty> What kind of pricing are we looking at for the higher tiers, Tiy?
<@Tiy> Rekalty high :P
<@Tiy> gold will be AROUND $45
<@Tiy> Impervium will be AROUND $2k
<@Tiy> second lowest is silver
<@Tiy> around $20, or $60 for a 4 pack
<@Tiy> $10k gets you molly flown to your house, where she'll serenade you with her ukulele, drink all your wine and vomit cake all over your rug
<@mollygos> shit i'd be happy to do that for the free wine and cake
<@Tiy> all of these will get you a steam key
<@Tiy> later on
<The_First_Gamer> So no using Steam money yet, Tiy?
<@Tiy> The_First_Gamer cant do steam money im afraid :(
I'm hoping the 4 packs are the usual "4 for the price of 3" cause I just so happen to have 3 other friends who want this.
And we're all cheap bastards
Edit: wow I can't read posts and missed the pricing for the 4 packs directly above me!

no, not really
Beta soon.
soon as in '2013'
but i guess pre-ordering will help fund the progress. the more people who pre-order, the faster it will be done. (hopefully)

I guess that's possible.
well at least I don't have to actively follow the game anymore after I've pre-ordered. maybe everything'll go so well, I just some day happen to get a mail titled "here's your very own starbound steam key" or something and go crazy
You know what? Fuck it. Going to buy the version of the game that's 60 bucks, or a bundle for around that cost.
It's near my birthday, I should be able to spoil myself once in a while.
They were talking about how two of the developers had other jobs outside of working on Starbound, and how the pre-order would allow them to work full-time on the game. So yes, pre-ordering will make the game come out sooner if anyone doubted that.

That's incorrect. I'm not a fan of Half Life personally. I've beaten the first part of HL2 but lost interest in episode 1 every time I've started it about 30-45 minutes in and I've only gotten about half way through HL1 before losing interest. The series just doesn't appeal to me.

Go talk about it in the Half-Life thread then.
Because this is the Starbound one, and we don't really need extra posts with the thread limit at 25 pages anyway.

Oh no, I'm so sorry for talking about something that was relevant to what someone said. Also judging by those dumbs I'm so fucking sorry for having an opinion that you guys disagree with.

Nice job taking up an extra post complaining then, lol.
I can't wait to pre-order this. It's really the only game I can get excited for this year.
[editline]a[/editline]
Well that might not be accurate. I am looking forward to Resident Evil Revelations. But Starbound is the game I am looking forward to the most. Mainly because I get to play something with my friend that is going to interest both of us for months.
Gosh darnit I was going to buy Impervium-edition thinking it would be like bit over 100€, because they deserve the support. But 2k? Nevermind then. :v:
Pixel tier for me. Although I will probably only preorder when the beta is announced.
I'd sooner pre order it as soon as possible and not have to worry about it later. Plus the money helps development and means we see the game sooner.
But my broke ass is aiming for pixel tier and nothing more :v:

Impervium.
I'm doing it.

You're seriously thinking of spending 2000$ on this game?
