• Starbound V2 - Much more than Terraria in space

Nier had flaws but the music, characters, and general storytelling made it a fucking amazing game. I recommend it, though there's some shitty aspects to it, like fishing. Other than that it's great. Though we should probably get back to talking about Starbound: I wonder what race that armor belongs to? I wanna say the fish people seeing as it looks like Samurai armor, but I'm not sure
This shall be my character, a female avian warrior, using my steam username - "Ravenholme" Always been drawn to the Avians, because I like birds and they remind me sorta of the Ophiuchii from In Death Ground/The Shiva Option
From what I heard, Nier was a terrible game. But this music and art looks really good. Damn :(
Nier didn't hate you nearly as half as much as Drakengard did, which is a good point in my book.
Well, do you have a sample of yours we can do off of? Anyone else notice that little skull and crossbones? Is that supposed to be the crosshair? Edit; also, just looked at the soundcloud one linked in your profile, and listened to some of the 'video game music' tracks. You don't really have the same spacey, airy quality in your music that the official starbound tracks have. They also sound slightly muffled to me for some reason, like they would show up on an older game for the DS or gameboy or some older console. They're all right, but they just don't really fit the audio quality/style starbound seems to be going for. Your music seems to fit the style of the art more than the style of the game, I guess is what I'm trying to say
Yeah I guess that makes sense. Always improving I guess.
Yeah I guess that makes sense. Always improving I guess.
I believe in you, bro.
From Tiy's Twitter:
So many people asking me for a release date this week. We're making good progress guys and pretty much all the major things are done but there are still a lot of small details to add and I don't want to attempt to estimate an accurate release window. We're not that far away. Be patient with us and we'll deliver something worth the wait.
[editline]6th March 2013[/editline]
2013 confirmed!
All aboard the hype train.
My guess is fall.
December 31st, 11:59 PM. Hey, it's still 2013.
But, which timezone?!
Its nice that they aren't putting out so called "concrete" release dates that leave the fanbase disappointed over and over which serves to make them MORE hyped for the real release and the result is people overhype themselves and find the game is not as good as the image of perfection they imagined. See planetside 2 beta for details. The game isn't bad but people overhyped themselves due to SoE setting dates then having to push the game back. I think the dev team should take as long as they need to get the game in gear and not try to set themselves dates that May or may not be achievable, when the game is in a releasable state they should then set a release date.
My guess is summer or early summer, as the aim was "early '13" not too long ago.

I mean what FPS game ships without any sort of SMG or shotgun on launch? Not to mention that the metagame as a whole (which helped Planetside really establish itself as a genre for those not familiar with it) isn't really there and won't be for like, another 3 months at the earliest. As for this game, I've gradually been putting it out of my mind. I'm putting together my own space exploration/sandbox game document, so I'm not really worried if this comes out in the next two months, or four months, or even this year to be honest. I'm still a little skeptical about Starbound to be honest though. Maybe I've missed something, but they have shown us, like nothing, not even placeholder stuff, like crafting or really exploring planets or anything really that would get me all excited about the game. Speculation is fun and all, but I'm at the point where whatever happens, happens and that there isn't any reason to get all hyped for it yet until they really start showing off some of the cool stuff they have in store.

ah its good we have a year atleast. and we probably wont get a concrete date till they are about 4 months or so away from the day they will release it. seems to be kind of a trend for game devs.
I hope melee weapons will be as plentiful in attachments/mods as other weapons and armor will be. Bayonette and laser sight for my spear.
Thanks for the avatar, abe <3
I hope melee weapons will be as plentiful in attachments/mods as other weapons and armor will be. Nice new avatar iRunner
[editline].[/editline] Jeez, what made you guys so angry all a sudden
i might be able to make an avatar like that. but i'm too lazy to go find my copy of photoshop elements. i made this awhile back.

does anyone have any idea about how large the multiplayer servers can be? (watch this have been announced already and i'm missing it)
I'm stoked for this game. I loved Terraria and adding the elements these developers plan to seems like a recipe for success. I threw down in the character creator as well. The grounded pink bird of peace: Namaste
does anyone have any idea about how large the multiplayer servers can be? (watch this have been announced already and i'm missing it)
they said somewhere it can support at least 20 people i think. but how it runs i think you could support much more than that on a reasonable pc
does anyone have any idea about how large the multiplayer servers can be? (watch this have been announced already and i'm missing it)
If I remember right, they said long ago that multiplayer could -technically- support up to around 256 players, but that it was designed with much lower player counts in mind.
Our avatars shall move onward, Avian. <3 [sp]Then the Avians and Florans became allies and were stomped out by the humans and robouts.[/sp]
Yeah, sounds about right.
Grape Ape and Rowboat master races.
According to lore Avians and the Glitch seem chill and rational. Florans on the other hand just seem to want to fuck everything up at any given chance.
