Guess who gets to have an NPC named after him~ [sp]me and like, 1500 other people[/sp]
I think a lot of people aren't naming NPCs after themselves, but making up names, whether they be cool names like Rear Adrmiral Dirk Hardpecs or some sort of reference like... well like Rear Admiral Dirk Hardpecs. ...God damn it. Now I hope someone spent $45 to make one of the random NPC names a Space Mutiny reference.
Oh hey, I can make a Novakid named Solaire. Now he IS Grossly Incandescent.
It's so close I can almost taste it.
Under "Experimental Tracks" in the soundtrack, "Desert_Battle_2" This song is goddamn amazing
So these guys... Yeah
Desert_Battle_2? I wonder if it'll have music when you engage in combat, like the Legend of Zelda series.
Desert_Battle_2 is the best piece of music I have ever heard in my entire life
Welp. Looks like I'm gonna spend my afternoon listening to the soundtrack.

I think I have a problem. I keep obsessively refreshing the pre-order page to watch the numbers go up. Help?
Wait, the preorders are done already? Or is it just handing out the keys and you can't use them, yet?
nah, the game's shit is just hosted on the humble bundle site for now right now all there is to download is the soundtrack
What even gives you that idea [sp]by the way the answer to your question is no[/sp]
Its okay. I don't find anything really memorable though.
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought this. Though I got to admit, the track that plays during that goofy weapon sounds video is pretty catchy, shame it's not in the download

Nice, but after awhile I imagine 90% of the player base will turn it off and substitute it for a playlist, ticking it back on some some freshness then back off.
A soundtrack has to be exceptionally bland for me to ever substitute it for other music.

But nothing stands out to me, but it's fucking LEAGUES better than Terraria's.
A soundtrack has to be exceptionally bland for me to ever substitute it for other music.
Not necessarily. It could just not be worth hearing over and over, but still interesting. [editline]15th April 2013[/editline]
But nothing stands out to me, but it's fucking LEAGUES better than Terraria's.
Bopp boop booop bop bopbopo bOOOP BOOOOP
In other news, I just discovered we'll be getting a cameo of someone's deviantart OC in Starbound I can live with this.

I used a Zelda pack for Terraria. I used it mostly for the higher resolution of the textures and it just transformed the game for me. I'm hoping a similar texture pack hits Starbound. I like the art style, but higher res doesn't hurt. The Zelda pack came with some appropriate music too which fit pretty nice, but if anything touches the Starbound music I'm going to be an angry person

Raffle entry date is done, those people who entered at 11 and arent on the list will be added tomorrow when I get off my lazy ass
Bopp boop booop bop bopbopo bOOOP BOOOOP
You know what? God DAMN you. I had forgotten that shitty surface theme until you brought it up again. FUCK that music. But on a positive note, that 'Warriors heart' Skyrim cover made me chuckle deeply. I have fond memories of waiting until the bard would get to a particular word and then shoot an arrow in their mouth. The sound of their death noise punctuating the music and the appalled screaming of everyone in the room.
Hopefully the melee weapon animations won't fucking blow I hated how the weapon would just swing out at like 3x your size for a split second in terraria
Hopefully the melee weapon animations won't fucking blow I hated how the weapon would just swing out at like 3x your size for a split second in terraria
well weapons being bigger than the player really did help, seeing as your character is so tiny and everything else you fight is so big, but melee was generally useless in Terraria. You can see a rough idea of how some of the bigger two handed melee weapons will work in Starbound around 1:30 here
melee was generally useless in Terraria.
Except it wasn't?
Except it wasn't?
You can't sit there and tell me that melee weapons are useful against the bosses, they all fly around, they're huge, and generally hurt like hell when they touch you. Flails are great however but swords and spears are usually vastly outperformed by guns and spells.

i remember when that one lava handgun was released in an update and it just wrecked everything died if you had it before it was patched
