I was just hoping it would release on Friday just because my birthday on on that day it would make my month just fantastic. Optimism is my only companion in the mean time. Also, Starbound seems like it's in a playable state so I really wouldn't doubt if the beta gets released in a couple weeks or so.

They said they want the game to be almost fully complete for beta, and the roadmap makes it clear they have a lot of work to do. The only thing not in will be story and probably a few small features they will add with constant updates.

Don't despair too much, they've also stated the beta is going to be a pure sandbox with no story missions, meaning you can disregard any of that stuff on the roadmap. I doubt we'll have vehicles or the pet system either
