Exaggeration.
How can i get Starbound ? Its still in Beta??
I want the beta to come out so bad, life is rough right now and this game is exactly what I need to drown it all out.
It isnt out yet, neither is the Beta.
Beta will be later this year and the final game as well(on steam and other places).
You can buy different tiers at http://www.playstarbound.com/store/
i know the final game has to reach a certain standard for the devs to release it, but why are they doing the same with the beta
it's a beta. it's not meant to be polished or anything. why aren't they making the release date earlier than just 'later this year'. from what i've seen the game looks playable enough for beta standards.

i don't understand this either, same with project zomboid
Gah, it's so hard trying to prevent myself from listening to the soundtrack.
Again, I want to listen to it firsthand ingame, but I keep hearing about how awesome it is, and I even managed to load up one of the musics, but then paused it before it could even start playing...
Just one won't hurt. Just one.

Because for developers like Tiy, enough is never enough. It is a blessing and a curse. If the game wasn't known about for so long, it might not be so bad.
But everyone has known about Starbound for a while now, and he should have made changes to his release plan accordingly. At this point it will only hurt starbound the longer he waits.
Valve Syndrome

seems to me it really isn't in a playable state
like yeah, maybe spawn some items in and build shit, but decent combat, exploring, gathering, or any sense of structure or progression at all is pretty much non-existent right now
it would be a really lame experience
There's still a lot of work left; shields aren't implemented, they need to fine tune the melee and ranged combat, player mechanics, armors, techs, etc. All of that needs to be up and running before we see the beta.
Or maybe it's because people don't understand "beta" and would call the whole game shitty if the beta was buggy

Yeah, I remember the russian leak where was some unbalanced weapons and planets that only change colour (Seems like very early beta/alpha) yet everyone started to yell that game will be complete shit and nothing more than Terraria in space.
For the love of Allah, don't release the beta until everything is done except the storyline campaign thing.

LOLWHAT
I dunno, the game looks pretty alpha to me, from watching the gameplay videos

Yeah our Russian friends managed to get a leak of it out, I don't think it's available anymore but it was probably really bad
It's sad how people don't understand that the term "beta" means in testing still. I think between Minecraft, Battlefield 3 and 4, and a few other games the term "beta" has taken on a new meaning, being essentially "demo (or in Minecraft's case full game) with a few features left out maybe."
I don't like it either.

Do you have any sort of source or proof of this? sounds interesting
The Floran seem to have a somewhat ancient Maori culture. Considering they're cannibals that eat their enemies and stuff.
someone on sa asked a question that got answered
<Broand> How many planets can one individual game save support?
<Seria-Myouna> Broand, depends on your hard drive size
<deman-tablet> Broand: depends on how much hard drive space you have
<Broand> I mean can I build bases on say 10,000 planets with the same character?
<deman-tablet> Yes broand
oh and if you're wondering about the human armors:
The human armors are pretty much sci-fi staple armors. The progression actually starts out with 70s/80s looking Stormtrooper/Cylon armor and slowly progresses into Mass Effect style suits
Also rho is the coolest
I totally want to make an 18+ DLC to this called Hellbound and make it the game equivalent of Heavy Metal

I snuck a cropped jpeg of the Eddie Murphy picture into the random monster part pool. They found it, sadly.
I would like to know how big the procedurally generated creatures can get, honestly. How afraid of oceans should I be?

I would love to build something on the surface of a water planet, then suddenly get attacked by a giant squid or something enormous.
oh damn it, i wanna buy this game but i just transferred all my money off paypal and onto my debit :v:
anyone wanna trade any 15 dollar worth of steam stuff for this game?
I've been playing FireFall for like 3 years and I've been with Planetside 2 and Warframe since closed beta so for me beta means anything and everything can change
if you join actual betas all the time (like warframe) you quickly understand that there will be many, many bugs
but its correct that many people get the wrong impression for "beta" from minecraft. i imagine the pressure (from MC) to have a polished "beta" has had a negative impact on indie developers, because theyre forced to do all the real testing themselves instead of putting out test versions so beta testers can find and report bugs more thoroughly. ive heard some kids complain about joining betas that are buggy, as if the point of a beta wasnt to help find issues
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
id personally rather have a buggier starbound beta so i can help report the non game-breaking issues and watch the game evolve and become better than "basically the finished product minus sa few features"
but thats just me
i don't understand this either, same with project zomboid
...Project Zomboid is quite a bit further behind in development than starbound last I checked. The alpha was prone to fairly frequent crashes and all sorts of weird things would happen in it.
Made muh preorder, Now to do absolutely nothing till beta is released.
I dunno, the game looks pretty alpha to me, from watching the gameplay videos
Alpha as fuck.
Alpha as fuck.
That uh.. That was actually pretty funny.
i don't understand this either, same with project zomboid
I know that the dev's didn't want to try and get zomboid on steam while it was still really buggy, because of what happened with WarZ and all the bad press it got, but it has been over 10 months since we got an update i think.
