It's surprising how much effort is put into this.
A genuinely serious gaming clan without any such type of core theme to it (or at least one that's more socially acceptable to talk about in public) would barely have a an OP that's HALF as well put together.
It's weird and almost scary, if such people set their mind to something productive or nefarious there is no telling what they might accomplish, and almost sad that they have such potential and never harness it. It's like those weird fetish porn artists who put professional graphics designers and genuine artists to shame with their level of ability.
Do you think that out there somewhere is a mind so brilliant and complex that they could conceivably put in motion machinations so powerful and dark that they might shake the very foundations of the world as we know it? Only to never find out because they spend their efforts meticulously writing Big Bang Theory fanfiction?

I think when it comes to some talented people they just don't see a reason to utilize their skill in a way most would consider productive. They only utilize their skill for things they enjoy doing instead.
