I might have to go out and get this today. Bye bye savings. :frown:
Holy fuck. I dunno about you guys but the concept of console games with multiple disks in the year 2010 silly.
If you use outdated media, DVD9, and then have copy protection make it so you can only use 6.8gb of that disk. (Coincidentally, less than PS2). You're going to end up with a silly amount of disks.
Fun fact: Lightning is voiced by the same actress who voiced Dr. Liara T'Soni in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2
I will pick this game up later today for my Xbox 360. I haven't bought a game in a while, nor have I played a turn-based RPG in a long time so I'm hoping for the best.
Why are people so pissed off about swapping disks? You only have to do it like every 15 hours or so and that only takes about 30 seconds
Because if one of the disks is defective, You can't finish the game. Because with today's technology, it can and has been eradicated. It's not a game killer, it's a nuisance though.
Played 9 hours so far. Quite enjoyable, though alot of the "random" fights are just a case of pressing X till youve won. havent noticed any real benefit in getting 5 stars on trash or bosses for that matter! The Shiva summon fight took me a good few tries because i didnt read the tutorial and just tried to kill it. Odin was alot easier because i bothered to use Libra :p A bit dissapointed by the lack of large sprawling maps so far, and i wouldnt mind some sidequests too. FF12 had the bounty board up fairly early on in the game. All ive got so far is occasional switching between the 3 storylines ive got going on. Still, cant wait to get further into it. really pretty game :D
I really wanna' pick this game up, but there's that whole "money" thing. I don't care if the game is linear or not. Dante's Inferno was linear. Darksiders was linear. As long as the game has a good story, I'm all for it. I really do want to get this, though.
Linearity is only an issue for so called "Die-hard" FF fans who want every FF to be FF7. Look, I'm one of the absolute biggest FF fans you will ever have the (dis)pleasure of meeting. I'm not as retarded as these guys who want a world map and old school ATB battle system everytime. The theory of evolution belongs to gaming too, You don't evolve, you die. Credit to Final Fantasy for being the #1 JRPG after 13 main series installments and such gameplay evolution. FFXIII oozes that FF quality. It's got the themes of a FF, Crystals, Cactuars, Behemoths. It's the most "Final Fantasy" installment of Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy 9
You mean Tinythread, not megathread.

Yes, that's what Final Fantasy is. It's an interactive storybook, and that's just fine by me.

Anyone know how far into the game you need to be to star doing the L'Cie Stone missions? Dying for a sidequest to ease the confusion of jumping between 3 plots :<
FF8 was fantastic apart from 2 plot elements. 1. Orphan Gang 2. Ultimecia. The customisation you got over your characters is still largely unmatched, there were some genuinely awesome characters (Laguna, his gang), and the Card Game was awesome. Better than 7.

Card games are pointless and serve no purpose other than to waste your time. The character customization was ridiculous and Squall was a whiny douche.
I want if for PC :frown:.
Yeah I preferred FF7 over FF8 too. Personal preference of course.

I can get enough Magic to complete the game before leaving for Timber. I can get enough to complete the game with absolute ease before the end of Disk 1. It's neither boring or time consuming, and takes 1 hour 30 maximum of "grinding".
Whats with all the talking of older final fantasies. give me some 13 talk :( Dont make me go play it some more!
:argh: The member page is down/slow and I can't register this to my Square account.
So far, I like the game. It isn't my absolutely favorite game, but I don't hate it either. I LOVE the battle system; it's speedy and offers a lot of action while at the same time it's highly tactical. My only gripe about the game is that there's a cutscene every 5 minutes, but at the same time I'm only 2 hours in.

That's the damn point. It's like the casino in FF7, it's there to BE a waste of time. And honestly, I found the characters of FF8 a LOT more compelling than the ones from FF7. :raise:
such a great game been playing it ALOT since i got it at 10am this morning I love it as much as the rest of them only problem i have with it is the party system, I HATE PLAYING AS THE LITTLE KID

Does 13 have some kind of job system in it? That's always the best part of a FF game. I like how the first one has you select whatever generic job classes you want at the beginning I liked FF5's job system, mastering abilities & shit I really like the job systems of all the Tactics games. I've gotten to the point now that I actually like the Tactics ones more than the main series because of all the neato team-building you can do. Even 10 had kind of a job system, in that the different regions of the sphere grid comply to something like a traditional FF job. Anything like that in 13? I really wish they'd return to the roots to employ a job system like #5 had, or any of the Tactics games.
My controller keeps disconecting during combat...

[sp]Odin[/sp] was an asshole to beat, though, had to spend like half of my potions.

Im currently pushing my 12th hour, on chapter 7. I loved the [sp]odin[/sp] fight, managed to get him down first try because i read the libra data :p [sp]Shiva was a pain because i was just trying to kill her :<[/sp]
Since Square reset their servers or something, no accounts can be used that were created before March 1st. So I have to create new one. Problem is, whenever I try to make a password and click submit it tells me each time that the password is invalid. "Password can contain only alphanumeric characters, only numberical numerical characters and cannot contain 3 consecutive letters or numbers." Or something like that. So if I type for example, "facepunch", it won't accept it. Any one else having this problem?
