Dump all your stone onto a 1x1 garbage dump, and then reclaim them. Stone stockpiles = huge waste of space.. Also, you do know leather can go into bins, right?
I remember back when I first started playing DF I didn't know that you could put things in bins...

my stone's far away from the fortress so I don't have to look at it, I have minimal stockpiles and I only realized I had so much leather because the small stockpile was full and the tanner's shop cluttered.
I marked the stone for the dump but nobody's moving it, and I have a dump.

Looks like my dwarves are hardier than I thought. They're still going, and more people have shown up.
I still don't understand the whole bin thing. Are they automatically placed in stockpiles? Because I only see like... one or so in their respective piles. Or do I need to place them manually? This will help me from having to continually expand my stone stockpile. It's HUGE.
Also, my berserking Animal Trainer has been trying to kill the same, unconscious man in the stone stockpile for some time. I just locked the doors. If they both die, it's not much of a loss to me. :v:
There's tons of engravings of humans/elves/dwarves doing depraved acts on eachother, with plenty of all three caged, so i'm guessing I just broke into rape pit

That reminds of of this one dwarf I had in my frozen fortress of evil, his name was Legolas Baggins, he was the bastard son of Bilbo Baggins, he had a macabre mood and became a legendary bone carver, he was still a child of no more than about 5 years, so I stuck him in the craftdwarf workshop and had him churn out masterpiece bone bolts from the fucktons of muskoxen cats and dogs I had, he was an amazing dwarf. Then I dug into the HFS and he was torn limb from limb by demons.

same here, I embarked on a savage swamp and all I got were goats, troglodytes and swallowmen, they killed maybe 1 dwarf in 4 years, I was hoping for a constant battle with the wildlife
heck i never even lost one dwarf. (got bored and gave up)
If i had a set of parameters to give me a very evil world indeed that would be nice.
Just got my first Goblin ambush.
Was a little worried (My fortress isn't exactly a... well, a fortress), until it dissolved in to a complete clusterfuck for them. It was really fast, but I managed to catch three of my soldiers chase down and beat a goblin to death with their bare hands. :v:
ambushes are nothing really, they can't do any serious damage besides maybe killing a few worker bees
