Make a 1-tile size garbage zone and mark all the stone for dumping. And if you need the stone, just unforbid it.

Right now I'm waiting for the river to freeze so I can dam it off. Once I control the one thing creating a constant flow of water in to my base, I can work on draining the flooding out.
I really don't want to abandon this fort. It's too... organized, and in too good of a location.

I think you need to build those bridges along the corridor where the traders come in. Build several long drawbridges so you can crush the largest area possible since there is time between pulling the lever and the bridge moving.

Out the side that it sucks out of, it only sucks from one tile below the tile next to the sucking part of the pump.
Also, I'm trying to build a fucking apartment complex for my above-ground fortress, and of course, as soon as all my dwarves have rooms, a fucking mega-migrant wave comes. 3 more floors, here I come.

F.Y.I. if you download it from May Green's site that's an older version. Also are you sure you are changing the right thing? Cause I know a few people get confused with it.
I'm starting some friends off on Dwarf fortress with dig deeper, to make their first time More memorable.
I just tried dwarf fortress, I was told by the humans to go attacks some golbin in a goblin tower. After passing that for a while, I wondered around and got attacked by green slime! I thought I could take them, how wrong I was. The 2 green slime attacked me and burnt away my limbs and I stagerred away and died.
