Oh wait. Now I know what do to. :downs:
Already crushed my farmer and my woodworker, when I removed the walls for my farm house(forgot to remove the ceiling first).

Did you remove all the walls? I have cave-ins turned off, so I hardly experience them anymore.

why the fuck would you turn cave-ins off
why the fuck would you turn cave-ins off
They are annoying as hell. Digging out a room then suddenly a cave-in. Not only does it kill your legendary miner, it punches a hole through every single floor below it that has been dug out. It's a pain in the ass.
Only use is when you want to knock buildings down.
Why won't my miner pick up the axe from the crushed woodworker and start chopping trees? Labor is active and he has no job.

I think cave-ins are part of the fun.

um thats never happened to me before, i dont know what youre talking about, watch what youre doing with channels and dont be a fuckin idiot and its easy to avoid cave-ins, i've never had an accidental cave-in before

whats a good way to make stockpiles for above-ground forts? i dont want to make it underground
I don't get why people learn on tilesets. I wouldn't get so pissed off over it (which is a stupid thing to get annoyed by anyway) if they even tried to learn the classic ASCII. They just look at it like, "LOL FUCK DIS" and then go straight to Gayday's Tileset.
You are beginning to transform into Kwal.
You are beginning to transform into Kwal.
i just hate tilesets, theres no excuse to use one, don't even try to lie and say you never had to examine shit when you switched to a tileset
You don't necessarily have to re-examine it once you see it again if you're using a tileset.
i just hate tilesets, theres no excuse to use one, don't even try to lie and say you never had to examine shit when you switched to a tileset
We don't want to hear about what you hate, what would you think of someone came in here and bashed the ASCII version? It's retarded, stop doing it. Noone cares.
i just hate tilesets, theres no excuse to use one, don't even try to lie and say you never had to examine shit when you switched to a tileset
you've got some issues if you care that much about what other people are doing that has nothing to do with you.
Can anyone suggest me a smooth ASCII tileset to play on 1280x800 resolution (i'd prefer 32x32 one).
I usually play with customized MikeMayday's tileset but i felt like trying to play ASCII version.
Btw, do you (ASCII people) play with or without charsets?
What's a charset?
Why is my metalsmith being a faggot and says that he needs Silver bars to make a fucking silver throne, yet there are 2 (which is enough) silver bars sitting right fucking next to him in the stockpile?
[editline]11:15PM[/editline]
they grab the bars, put them in the metalsmith's forge, and then i get a fucking announcement saying he needs silver bars. :downs:

He needs three bars. Furniture costs three metal bars. He takes two to the forge, notices that there isn't a third and gives the "need bars" message.

I have three now and he's still doing it, and it said before when I had 1 bar, "needs 2 bars".. Unless that means 2 additional bars :v:
[editline]11:32PM[/editline]
Ohh, one was forbidden for no reason.

Character Set.
It changes how actors (dorfs, elves, monsters etc) look while Tileset changes everything else.
So my last fortress failed when the river froze over RIGHT as I was to build my well. I sent a team to reclaim it, turned off their soldier-ness, but now they won't do anything I ask besides moving shit to stockpiles. Did I fuck something up? :raise:

I think that's usually called a graphics set.
Not that it's really important...
I think that's usually called a graphics set.
They might be called that. My fault then.
pffft... you're all babies... turning off this, turning off that... play the game like a man
I was taking apart a tower and forgot about the ceiling, killed some miners, I rolled with it :frogc00l:
I'm giving some recruits steel warhammers to spar with. What level of armor should I have so they don't get injured easily?
Do rivers tend to lower FPS or something? My first fort would run at something like 20, but my new one is at a constant 100+. I can't keep track of anything. Shit just gets done so fast, and I'm getting wave after wave of migrants and can't keep anything organized, much less accommodate everyone.
Duchess / Duke magma death platform was successful, however the legendary miner removing the last floor piece got sucked in by the collapsing platform. Oh well, it was enjoyable to see them float through 15 levels of a magma pipe while they burned.
....I want to build a glass fortress UNDER THE OCEAN. I have no idea how I can do this, but I will figure it out.

Flowing water will do that.

The story of a lowly macedwarf recruit killing a local goblin leader in a siege (who was a legendary spear-master too.)

Random cave-ins don't happen like that unless you're playing the 2D version. It's incredibly easy to prevent cave-ins.
