Oh man, one of my wrestlers just killed a giant cave swallow with his bare hands, lost an eye in the act.
Do rivers tend to lower FPS or something? My first fort would run at something like 20, but my new one is at a constant 100+. I can't keep track of anything. Shit just gets done so fast, and I'm getting wave after wave of migrants and can't keep anything organized, much less accommodate everyone.
my last fortress that got raped by testicle demons had a large brook running through it, I was stuck around 40 fps
A Titan arrived to come and play with my macedwarves. On closer inspection, this Titan was constantly stunned and unconcious. I checked it and it didn't have a right shoulder or arm! Obviously he got busy with something or somebody in the past 308 years of my world. I feel bad for him as it just mopes around in the hills near my fort and slowly battles Giant toads and Olm-men.
i once got sieged... siege and I only have my starter 7 people :(
I can't wait until the day where we can hop on the overworld with our armies and invade other fortresses
pffft... you're all babies... turning off this, turning off that... play the game like a man
Maybe some of us are playing on crappy laptops so we would like to get that extra FPS kick. Don't tell people what to do like that.

what the fuck. What is that from? :v:
Is it possible to create totems from dwarfen skulls? Or anything else from their bones? I want those crushed dwarfs to be a part of my village.
Are there any real repercussions from having my ruling nobles (Dukes/Duchesses) from constantly going insane and inevitably dying all the time? I think they do this because I never make them tombs (I get so many immigrating, its a vicious cycle) and the Expedition Leader/Manager/Broker named after myself has artifact furniture while the other higher ranked nobles do not. Everyone else seems fine and happy, while my Dukes and Duchesses always kill themselves or experience adamantine maces.
Got sieged by goblins. 6 squads and an elf hammerer. :|
I'm giving some recruits steel warhammers to spar with. What level of armor should I have so they don't get injured easily?
First give them the following: helm, chainmail, gauntlets, high boots, shield. Then up their armor level to "plate" and give the following: greaves, platemail.
What about leather :c
What about leather :c
If you have a legendary leatherworker, then leather armor isn't completely useless. Masterwork leather armor has the same strength as standard-quality iron. I tend to give leather armor only to fortress guards though, the military requires something better like iron or steel. [editline]12:31PM[/editline] I'm not going to be home at the usual devlog release time so let's see if someone else posts it this time :3:
Did you remove all the walls? I have cave-ins turned off, so I hardly experience them anymore.
After seeing the amount of dumb ratings, probably meaning that people disagree with me, I'm thinking of turning it on again and build stuff with supports after seeing what caves in.

But since I love you, I'll tell you how to fix it. Set an FPS cap around 70. At 70, I find dwarves move at normal speeds and jobs get done relatively normal to how long it should take. When it's at 100 FPS, they whizz about, and God help you when you get champions. You'll hardly be able to follow the bastards. :( [editline]12:59PM[/editline]
If you have a legendary leatherworker, then leather armor isn't completely useless. God damn it you have a streak going, don't let some unworthy peasant take your place (unless it's Swebonny, they aren't unworthy).
Nothing wrong with that, and that's a pretty good idea.
Turned it on, no cave-ins :3:
After seeing the amount of dumb ratings, probably meaning that people disagree with me, I'm thinking of turning it on again and build stuff with supports after seeing what caves in.
I guess you got the dumb ratings because you don't know that cave-ins don't really exist anymore since the 2D version. Except a tile is floating.
The next SDL/OpenGL/etc update 40d18 is up (Mac too!). There are still some adv mode errors and so on -- the important thing we are checking is the general FPS, since the other problems just have to be worked through on the main merge anyway. Votes in the poll and comments are helpful. You can grab it at the forum thread here. The missing DF talk segment is up on the DF Talk page with download and transcript. Main-release DF issues continue to be worked through as well. World gen crash fixed, various complaints about the military controls addressed (lots left there). It also called not-yet-placed doors and other buildings "unknown frozen substance doors", which wasn't correct for things like wood or anything else. I'm trying to catch up with the future of the fortress questions, but they are outpacing me recently, he he he. I think I have about a dozen replies left to do.
hurr hurr
I guess you got the dumb ratings because you don't know that cave-ins don't really exist anymore since the 2D version. Except a tile is floating.
Are you sure? One of the first times I tried it I experienced a cave-in that wasn't a tile floating.
40d18 woo woo
Just 13 minutes late. [editline]03:26PM[/editline] You snipping bastard.
40d18 woo woo
Is that the new version or...?
Is that the new version or...?
Damn 24 minutes late. Anyhow a few posts above: http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=20361837&postcount=772 Edit: Few more days to go :) I say 2 weeks at most.
the Expedition Leader/Manager/Broker named after myself has artifact furniture while the other higher ranked nobles do not.
Yeah that'll do it. Nobles get extremely pissed off when their subordinates have nicer accommodations than they do. This has led to a vicious whining cycle for my dwarves though. My dungeon master demanded a golden statue in his tomb, so that made his tomb nicer than the duke's. So then I have to make a few platinum statues for the duke and put them in HIS tomb. Then the dungeon master demands a fancy copper door in his office, and his office became nicer than the duke's. A few more platinum statues later, and FINALLY they're pretty much satisfied.
I'm back from the mysterious outside.
hurr hurr
Awesome.
I have made Orkel proud. :911: [editline]03:46PM[/editline] Someone make a dwarvenly version of that emote.
