Would you prefere that?
I can tell what everything is now :P
Same happens to me sometimes, they don't seem to obey commands if the orcs are within their range.
No, you don't seem to understand how the dwarven mind works. It works like this when you give them an order: Will the fortress benefit from this? If yes then don't do it. If no, then do it. However when making a decision about something you haven't given them an order about the dwarven min works like this: Will I get killed, or will the dwarves around me get killed? If yes, do it. If no, then don't. This can be proven by these examples: 1. Urist Mcdwarfendwarf is a crossbow dwarf. He encounters an orc. He is ordered to fire, seeing as the killing of the orc will benefit the fortress. Urist decides that he is thirsty and goes to have a drink 2. The noble Urist Mcdonothinguseful is ordered to pull a lever that can only be pulled by him. The lever will destroy the upper level of the fortress. Because Urist knows this, he pulls the lever. 3. Urist decides he wants a drink, instead of going to the storage room, he decides that the small puddle next to that giant cave spider seems like a good spot to drink from. Another example is the dwarves need for picking up items that their fallen comrades drop when killed.
Oh you ASCII folks :3:
I can tell what everything is now :P
Same, the tileset is utter gibberish to me.
I like having sets for characters (graphics sets if I'm not mistaken), but I have been unable to find a good one (not maydays) anyone have a link to one?.
I like Dystopian Rhetoric. but you can just pick one here: http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Graphics_set_repository
I like Dystopian Rhetoric. but you can just pick one here: http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Graphics_set_repository
Thanks, Dystopian looks great. [editline]12:58AM[/editline] A couple of months ago I tried installing a graphics set the same way you install a tileset. Let's just say that replacing the entire intro with pictures of humans and dwarves looks kind of strange.
Dystopian is incredible, sadly it hasn't been updated to the d40# version yet.
Frickin' goblins won't leave me alone. I've had to beat like 5-6 ambushes into the ground, and the message doesn't seem to be sinking in. I don't even have time to gather up all the goodies from one ambush before another one starts up.
Dystopian is incredible, sadly it hasn't been updated to the d40# version yet.
It worked well for me.
I CHOOSE TO OSCILLIATE! :smug: ( I spelled it wrong huh?)
Woo! about to start the best bloodlines campaign ever with some friends. Sinister swamp, aquifers underneath. The idea came from that scene from monty python and the holy grail about Swamp Castle.

I like my fort, but I'm really considering settling in to a sinister or haunted area, just to experience what it's like. All this perfection and stuff is getting old. :v:
Would it be possible to mod in a megabeast that just steals items like a rhesus macaque and move quickly?
I like my fort, but I'm really considering settling in to a sinister or haunted area, just to experience what it's like. All this perfection and stuff is getting old. :v:
I moved into a terrifying land, and it's so much more fun than a tranquil woodland where the biggest danger is a muskox. This is actually what I envisioned DF being. It's a struggle to survive as we are constantly assaulted by vile goblins which really put my military to the test, actually necessitating excessive fortifications and weaponry and shit, if we can ever get a spare moment from the ambushes to produce such items. In my old fort, the biggest threat to my dwarves was themselves, as they'd sometimes injure each other while sparring. One dwarf went insane very early in the fort because I didn't have any cloth (needed for a strange mood) and one got accidentally killed by the captain of the guard, and then the captain of the guard died because he went insane as well. My dwarves were just stir crazy. Those were my only three deaths ever. A dragon actually came to my fort, and all it managed to do was kill a single war dog.
Looks like I have to go back to the dwarven heaven map to make my volcano fort. I'm gonna make a lava pit with the GSC in the middle.
I wish Toady would make some special parameters for enemies that simply create themselves. Like, zombies rising from the earth, or megabeasts suddenly appearing from a fissure or something. My forts always end up killing every natural enemy by the time it's built up enough for me to want it to be tested in combat.
Could always try the HFS.
I would LOVE some undead armies invading your fort, or something like 'oh snap, your buried loved ones have risen, and their lust for flesh is HORRIFYING.'
Could always try the HFS.
I've already cleared that out. What I'd do for endless hordes of zombies attacking the fort in waves.
That should only happen on haunted areas, or there could be goblin mages that animates dead goblins and dwarves. That will make you want to fortify your graveyard.

But it has a lot of underground beasts we don't know about as well right? And a lot of new HFS I think.
But it has a lot of underground beasts we don't know about as well right? And a lot of new HFS I think.
Yeah, fun guaranteed :v:
Orkel, I used to think your avatar was the Pyro. Now... eeuughh. :barf:
Well I've been wondering, what is it?
It's a statue at the Eden Project, a place in England. [editline]12:57PM[/editline] It's made out of recycled old garbage or something along those lines, I believe.
Hey Thorny, do you think I could be added to the list of players? EDIT: Thanks
Well I've been wondering, what is it?

It's from a sculpture made out of junk. Is that supposed to look like some kind of skull?
