Fucken A, retard dwarfs, finally got my fortress running, armour and weapons for everyone, suddenly i'm under attack by about 15 skeletal horses, i order them all the ready arms and attack, running to the horses [B]ALL BUT TWO[/B] fall asleep, leaving the squad commander and his buddy to get royally mashed. The horses the charge the sleeping dwarfs and they all fucking die without waking up.
I raged.

yeah, i am holding off for the new version
but seeing as it will be quite a bit of time before the new version comes out i might make my fort now.
I want to make a clean fort with golden roads, beds, a table and chair for everyone!
I want to make it with good architecture, not like my old forts that were really basic but efficient
I'm not talking about my most succesful above ground fort though, that one was good.
christ, I left my DF going on a new fortress, while I did something else, it stopped when a thief came and now everyone's going crazy/dying from skeletal horses and alike, i've gone 9 left, three of which are currently insane.

I've been thinking about getting into Dwarf Fortress lately, because it seems fucking awesome. Should I wait for the new version first, or can I just do it now?

I am getting 17 frames per a second now what the fuck? On bigger fortresses i get well over 70 constantly but now its just sucks. Any suggestions to help it get higher?

To add to this, It has been quite some time since I last played, and I am currently at 26 dwarfs and rather laggish. Any thing I might be able to do to increase my fps?
Aww, so it isn't being released this month? Oh well, guess I will have to start playing the current version now since I can't really wait much longer.
In other news:
jefmajor has been doing a Let's Play of Dwarf fortress' fortress mode (He had previously done one of adventure mode) and I have a dwarf named after me in it :buddy: I am apparently a potash maker, but I don't really know. In the latest video he uploaded (number 11) I guess I threw all my stuff on the floor in my room or something. Yay!
I've gotten really shitty at starting a fortress, they all almost died when the river froze over in winter, I just start digging an epic fortress and hope it finishes before they start strangling eachother
