Or the engravers who engraved engraved images of cheese.
It's not quite that, but my engraver just did something rather... dwarvish.

He engraves an engraving of my other dwarf engraving a engraving.

Can I call this shit or what.
I had a really neat idea for an additional fortress room design. A hall of engravings.
You dig out a room in rows, leaving two rows of rock and 1 row for Dwarfs to walk between the rows with.
Like this:

Then, after every year, you engrave a row, the Dwarfs will engrave all the notable recent events, like artifacts, children, important people, etc.
So the first year would be like this, where the blue engraved:

After eight years:

Then in adventure mode, you can come back and read all the notable events in a single place.
Doesn't everyone do this?
What the hell? Why are you people talking about dwarf fortress all of a sudden?
Get back to you weights, religions, latest bowel movements, etc.
Funny that "The New Version Thread" is at page 33 before the new version is even released

Again, that's not exactly what he meant by New Version.

Then why is there a great load of information about the next version, written like it's been released?

Because everything has been done except bug testing.
Oh Kobold Thieves, does your persistence know no bounds?
I chased off a Kobold Thief, only for him to return right away.
He slowly skulked in to my fortress, intent on stealing its riches.
He made it halfway through the entry hall before a Tentacled Demon Soldier tore off his right foot.
Needless to say, the thief thought twice and ran away.
OK.
Just this:

These features were added/changed by the release of DF 2010.

got my hopes up.
Because everything has been done except bug testing.
are you sure about that? hopefully it'll be out before the 15th.
This game sounds so kickass, I tried it once, well I failed quite hard. Read some tutorials an guides. Still I was unable to even understand anything. Well guys you seem to hardcore. I want to try it again, maybe I got more patience.
Anyway.
I started playing again a couple of days ago. I hadn't played for a good few months (remembered all the keys though) and wanted to get back into it with the new release coming up.
(Actually I wanted to play the new version, but its not ready)
My current fortress was kind of picked at random.
No magma :frown:, so far no coal either (luckily tons of trees, for now :dota101:).
TONS of gold, everywhere! An annoying amount of gold in fact. I like to dump all the mined rock when I make rooms, but I hate dumping gold (I know I can get it back later, but it just feels wrong).
Currently naming my dwarfs in the style of snow white and the seven dwarves.
Started with Doc, Sleepy, Sneezey, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful and Happy.
First lot of migrants became: Ugly, Clumsy, Crazy, Gimpy and Stumpy
I intend to continue this naming convention for the entire life of my fortress (until I get bored)
and they're all pictures of cheese
bravo dwarves, bravo
The engraver needs to be of sufficient skill in order to engrave historical events, because only quality "well-crafted" and up can show events, and the better quality the engravings are the more likely it has an event.
Engravings made with a quality of well-crafted and up will often contain pieces of historical information about your fortress' past.
Oh hey look a decent DF discussion.
...
I'm 182 cm tall and weigh 95 kg.
Someone is working on a DF WarCraft 3 map:

Looks pretty good. I love how it got the fortress design of the old 2D version.
Ahh those were the times. River, cave river, chasm, magma river and adamantine on every map.
5'9 here and 163 lbs. Makes 175 cm and 74 kg. 18 years old :)
EGGS AND DUMBELLS DO WONDERS:
This man has the body of a Greek God.
You fat
Yeah. Cause whenever someone weighs 75kg, they are automatically fat, no matter what height they are. Obviously, me being 6ft and a bit, plays a part in my obesity... I'm tall, I'm meant to be that weight.
Also, God damn update.
180 cm 72 Kg 19 years FYI.

you fat?
you fat?
No lol :p I just re-read what I typed, and realized it sounded as if I was saying that I was actually fat. Fail part on my sarcasm.
Okay fuck I'll join the fad:
181cm 69kg 16 years old
Perfect weight according to my doctor.
Just downloaded, To play it however is on my to do list...
you fat?
and mad.
I wonder if i could make the dwarf equivalent of the HEX thinking engine from the disc world series.
The motion of captured elephants trigger pressure plates that fill and vent rooms filled with water causing more pressure plates to be activated/deactivated. This causes a seires of floodgates to open/close giving you an answer in binary.
The areas elephants can walk is determined by a series of levers, their on/off value relating to your question in binary.
Shit. One of my demons is possessed and just sitting in their room.
My biggest concern is their strength. This demon is "Ultra-Mighty". If they berserk, it could be a major problem. :smithicide:

Maybe he possessed himself :derp:
And there goes the berserking.

Broke my automerge.
It would be hilarious if Toady made the game so complex, that it entered a state of Simulated Reality comparable to the definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulated_reality
Actually, that would mean we're subjecting innocent people to nightmarish fates even we would cringe at :ohdear:
Any tag I can switch that will stop basically civilians from fleeing in terror from something? I'm sick of my Tentacle Demons fleeing from skeletal creatures when they can easily crush them with their bare hands.

Just turn one into military and kill all the skeletal creatures.

I couldn't agree more. That's a pretty awesome combo for a 16 year old. Are you big? IE shoulder width, and just generally big (bigger than your classmates etc).
Being 59kg (120lbs) at 16 is weird. You should be around 65kg.
Plus, only reason I'm being a "dick" about it is cause you're a douchebag yourself. You're an elitist cunt who talks down to any new players because they use tilesets. It puts em off.
So you're being a dick about one subject because of another that is completely irrelevant? Anyway, I don't dislike tilesets, I don't like when people ask on every fucking page for one, when they're all on the first page and every other page in the thread. "DURF GUYS WHAT IS GOOD TILESET?" on every fucking page gets pretty annoying, so guess what? I can be annoying too.
Fuck man don't even get me started. I'm 17 and weigh 103 pounds and 5'8'' cm (or 47kg and 172 cm). I eat so much food that I should be overweight, but I've got an incredibly fast metabolism. The thing is that I'm not terribly scrawny either (I've got great muscle definition :v:). I have absolutely no fat though.
This is how I am. Since I've gotten home 30 minutes ago, I've eaten half a bag of Sunchips, two Hot Pockets, and had a soda.
