D'oh. I had prepared myself to dorf fortress all day tomorrow and even went so far as to inform one of my friends. THANKS LOOFILOO.
On the topic of engravings...
My demons, lately, have been doing a number of engravings about humans killing humans in some massive battle called "The Scorching Onslaught" or something to that effect. I didn't realize a civ would engrave events of other civs. :raise:

Well jeez
I was just thinking....
"Oh cool, I shall now click back to the first page"
click
"Now to go to the download page"
click
"What trickery is this? It says the latest version was posted in 2008? Why, that is not the current year! The current year is 2010! Goodness, someone has played a joke on me! Well in the future, I shall be certain to be more trusting of the official Dwarf Fortress web site than I am of the spurious posts made by ruffians in this thread!"
Instead it was like...
"Oh thank heavens! At last the glorious new version is upon us! God bless our divine messenger Loofiloo! Spread the word! Go out into the streets and shout to the world that the new version of Dwarf Fortress is finally here at long last! Is that a choir of angels I hear singing in the background? I can only imagine that Loofiloo has such an angelic voice as well! Such a kind-hearted, honest, upstanding fellow he is! There are many preparations to be made now! Everybody gather some supplies and meet me in the town square, that we might construct parade floats and prepare for a festival heralding this new Dwarf Fortress release. Oh my! Loofiloo has made a new post in the Dwarf Fortress thread! I can only imagine that he has more wonderful news to bring to us!"

how do I unmuddy a brook
How do you even muddy a brook?
did you just
oh my god why would you
Now there son, looks to me like you got yourself a blockage. Go have a look upstream, and see if you can spot any problems.
[editline]09:23AM[/editline]
You know, like all your water diverting to half your fortress. Happened to me once. I spent ages looking up and down a river to find why it was stopping at a random point, to realize that I had tunneled into it by accident, and that half my fort was drowning. Best bit was, I could have saved it if I was paying attention.
it isn't blocked
I tried to install pumps to shunt the brook into channels while I installed floodgates in the dry section, in case I needed to dam the brook and flood the valley for some reason
but the pumps started before the mechanic was done linking them to levers
and then a goblin killed him
No, I just wanted to go into a story. I'm not very good with these mechanical doohickeys.
my fort has survived worse things
like when I accidentally started draining the underground lake
fortunately I managed to kill the fucking cave crocodiles and get it sealed up before bad things happened
and then two of my champions were fighting a frogman above the lake and dodged and fell in, and drowned, and they were wearing very nice steel armor, and so I drained the entire lake and went and got their stuff and bones
then I filled it up again with my trusty brook
Going back into this game. Started a fort and fighting against orcs. Fun stuff.
I'm having loads of fun here, built a large underground fortress and finished it off with a large castle on top of it.
Then I found my magma pipe.
Apparently a fire snake managed to light my entire food supply on fire.
My entire fortress broke into a tantrum spiral with dwarfs running around and lighting eachothers on fire.
Then one dwarf decided to pull every lever for my water system, flooding my fortress.
My main hall is currently encapsuled in obsidian from my mist makers and my hand is hovering over the Abandon Fortress button.

Urist's Law.
The bigger and more powerful a fort becomes, the closer the chance of something insignificant causing a massive fortress fuck up reaches 1.
it's possible to make tilesets for modded enemies and objects right?
[QUOTE=Parakon;20609725]it's possible to make tilesets for modded enemies and objects right?[/QUOTE]
Possible... yes.
Easy...... as easy as everything else in Dwarf fortress.

Awesome.

Found magma.
Is there a mod allowing digging in adventurer mode?
I really want to, also with construction if possible..
Having a underground lair and a wooden hut in adventure could be cool..

Unfortunately not. I'm pretty sure most adventure mode features are hard-coded.

i'd like to just give my drunk homies a proper grave when they get their head torn off

If you want you can get Tweak and start fortress mode with just one dwarf.

Or give one Dwarf all the "useful" skills you want him/her to have, give the other 6 nothing, and embark on a Terrifying mountain biome.
Then just activate the 6 peasants as recruits, and have them charge a zombie troll :v:
[editline]01:12PM[/editline]
Hell, I plan on keeping my 6 fleshies alive so they can dig out a basic fortress before I have them die.
but you can't control him can you?
Made the usual panic area for dwarves to get in if the orcs or other invaders get through the main entrance and inside my fort. Accessible from the main bedroom area.

This is weird:
On my current map, in the winter, only the water in the south-east corner of the map freezes, the rest is still normal.
you probably set up on two different temperate types or something.
