I'm still waiting for someone to make a Forge-compatible throwback-terrain mod. There's one mod that "fixes" the game to have old terrain, the old walking anims, minecart boosters, etc. but it's incompatible with all the mods I use.
I always see people saying "Add this, nerf that, do this" with content they way, and then the devs go and add something completely out of the blue. Honestly, the only things I've ever wanted are old terrain as a generator option and vertical half-slabs.
Did you guys test 1.5 yet?

These are everywhere
Saw these back when beta 1.7 was the hype. But we were more focused on pistons and the "factory" glitch they had.
This is a WIP dieselpunk texture pack i'm working on.
I need some opinions.

The idea is that the entire world is a floating machine on wich you survive.
I need a good idea of what gold could be. I'm thinking lighweight machinery, or some kind of material used in advanced technology. But i dont know what. Neither do i have a good idea for lapis or emerald.
Could anyone help me out?
Also, rust or no rust?
Heck yes, we need more dithered retro packs, less ugly realistic stuff.
Also rust for mossy variants.
Maybe gold could be thermal insulation or something? Or like how you see in space probes or something. Those are different materials but they have the same color.

Or gold wiring. Pretty sure most spacecraft use gold wires instead of copper.
I have a question for anyone who might be well-versed in mystcraft.
I've tried making several worlds with nether fortresses (and hell biome, so nether monsters actually spawn), but when I'm running around in the fortresses, I never seem to run into any wither skeletons at all. Anyone know why? There are still blaze spawners, and they do spawn if the light level gets low enough. But no wither skeletons anywhere.
If I recall correctly from discussion elsewhere, wither skeletons are only set to spawn in nether forts defined by the level seed, and only at the intersections of walkways. If the code was already that ass-backwards specific I could easily see it slipping through the cracks of mystcraft.

Just wanted to share this; First time I've found a volcano that wasn't a short stack and with actual flowing lava.
I just found the best way to harvest Redpower 2 rubber trees.
Use a Wand of Equal Trade set to gravel with torches under the tree.

Are there any good water shaders/textures that make water clearer? Getting sick of nearly opaque water.

Optifine has Clear Water.
[del]I recently hooked my TV up to my PC to use as a monitor, but I'm having a weird problem running minecraft now. On the GUI, I can't click on anything that's too far to the upper part of the screen or the far right of the screen. Can anyone tell me why this is?
I can only get it to work if I make the window smaller. If I maximize the window or just make it too big, then I can't click on those far edges of the screen.
Also, I can click on the far bottom and far left sides of the screen just fine. Just not the top and right.
Oh and I forgot to mention, I'm also using a regular PC monitor to the right side of the TV... If that makes a difference. The TV is 1920x1080 and the monitor is 1440x900[/del]
Never mind I fixed the problem. Happy 8000th post, me

not trying to be a dick but it's not nice to people with the same problem who find this post and you don't give the solution

Isn't that a result of Minecraft's lack of anti-aliasing?
Do you think it would make sense if gold was aluminium?
It could be used in lightweight machinery. I guess it could work with gold being "high tier" yet very weak.

Aluminium is not rare or valuable though. I doubt terribly many people know that aluminium used to be extremely expensive before electrolysis was used to isolate it.
Maybe you could make it Platinum, which is extremely expensive and rare. In fact, in the modern day, platinum is often ranked above gold . Platinum credit cards, platinum albums, etcetera. And Platinum is used in some tech applications as well. It's used in some anti-cancer drugs, which could be golden apples perhaps. It's also used in catalytic converters in cars, for spark plugs, and for electrodes. It's primary use though, other than catalytic converters, is jewelry, which would also fit with gold in Minecraft, since a lot of texture packs make the gold armour and tools extremely ornamental.
I just came up with another cool idea for a texture pack.
Imagine the world is a human, and the ground is the body.
Bedrock is bone, stone is flesh, dirt is skin.
Redstone would be neurons and coal could be glucose. The nether would be the digestion system, with lava re-textured into acid.
It would be called... Parasitecraft...

Still, pretty original honestly.

I was thinking about this the other day. The Painterly pack has options to make Netherrack and Nether Brick look meaty, (along with the unrelated "BEE HELL" options) but nothing quite on the scale you're thinking.

Well, I switched the TV to be my primary monitor, and that made it work. I dunno if that's the best way to fix it, but it worked for me.
Ok, so I have another mystcraft question, if anyone can help: I recently found the "dense ores" page, but it seems like no matter what combination of pages I set up, the world has spontaneous explosions or decay or blindness or something equally horrible. How do I make it more stable? Is it even possible to have a usable dense ores world?
I could tolerate things like weakness, mining fatigue, slowness, maybe even hunger and scorched surface, but I must have created over 20 worlds now and not one of them has been even remotely usable. I actually came really close once, but the thing that ruined it was that it had constant rain. I want to set up a solar-powered quarry in this world, so I need it to be sunny, at least part of the time.

Dense Ores adds a ton of instability, so you need to add stability by using symbols like Scorched or Charged. Scorched only works once, but charged will end up lagging from lightning entities before you get a world that doesn't destroy itself.
Now a different question: How do I get an automated rubber farm working? All the wikis and tutorials all over the internet are really sparse in their information in this regard. I need a really in-depth guide, but preferably not a video, if it can be helped.
In fact, pretty much everything related to Forestry is really hard to learn about. It's like someone just made this huge complex mod but really doesn't want to tell anyone how to use it. And maybe other people are just so uninterested in it that the wikis don't get filled in very much.

Forestry has the treetap, an older farm, but that's about to be replaced with MultiFarms. Use a rubberised electron tube (electron tube using rubber instead of metals in a Forestry thermionic fabricator) on a circuit board (soldering iron required, set to manual farm). You'll have to do the farmland yourself, but it will harvest, as it is a manual farm.

Yeah, I never understood how that automatic treetap works. Do I need to attach it to a tree? Do I just put it near a tree? Does it have an area of effect? Does it pick up sticky resin on its own? What does it do with sticky resin? Does it have to work in conjunction with other machines?
I would have made one of those things a long time ago but I don't know the first thing about how it works, and the wiki tells me nothing.
I've spent a while building a spawn for a server, I need opinions. Does anyone want a PM of the IP so I can have an opinion or should I just post the IP here?
[editline]11th March 2013[/editline]
Just been paid for doing another server's Permissions EX permissions.yml. It was a straight copy and paste from a back up I once made, easy money.
Ahh.. I feel like Minecraft is getting extremely boring, actually. :/
I will always remember the good ol' times in alpha.
Today there is no more excitement, imo. You know how to survive, you know how to build nice things and you know all the crafting recipies.
There's nothing more to look forward to, such as before when you had thoughts like:
-Ooo, wonder how minecraft will look like in Beta!
-Cant wait for the full release!
-I wonder how the next update will look like.
-So this is Alpha? I wonder how Minecraft will look like in 2 years
Minecraft is fully released now.
I'm speaking of course to the people who saw the Minecraft 2-3 years back. I'm not trying to offend the game, this game is still extremely great and is still my favorite game.
Cause I still play Minecraft for some reason, It's like I'm attached to it. :P
Also, here's something me and my friend built about 2 months ago. Took us 4 hours to build :D

This is the coolest thing I have ever seen anyone build.
It looks fantastic, I just... love looking at it lol.
Excellent job.
I heard a while ago that Captain Sparklez became sort of the "PewDiePie" of Minecraft, alienating all of his viewers and stuff of the like, and I've keep hearing it ever since. Can anyone explain that in more depth to me?
Who is that, what does he do, what did he do, and why?
There are so many LPers these days, it boggles my mind.

Captain Sparklez is in the top 5 of popular minecraft LPers. I don't really see him as bad, hes just kind of there, hes not really a scumbag as far as I've seen but hes nothing really unique either.
MultiMC is possibly the greatest tool ever, for Minecraft.
I love it.
