you're implying that you have your steam account connected here or something
I sent you an invite
Say, pertaining to the issue of mobs on railroads, why not implement something like a cow catcher to push them off the tracks? 's how the old Western steam trains dealt with the buffalo wandering over those iron roads.
For some reason I regularly (Every week or so) get a mail that someone is trying to reset my password, yet my account is never compromised.
A bot or something?
(also hi the 2 people that might recognize me from 50 threads ago)

Do you have a desirable username that unscrupulous folks might want?
greg is a fucking retard, good lord
Given some of the things he's included in GregTech, isn't this apparent? I mean he's literally made an IndustrialCraft mod that then turns around and starts modifying other mods altogether. Because, you know, people naturally want to install an addon for one mod that doesn't interact with another at all, and then have that addon turn everything in the other addons you have into a clusterfuck of resource-consumption for what was previously a basic item.

Also he argues with everyone who opposes him. Everyone.
welp, not now then I guess, but I do suggest watching Direwolf20's videos, cause he uses FTB too, although he uses the DW20 pack every mod in DW20 is in Ultimate (ultimate has a few more mods, ontop of that)

I love Direwolf20. He's just so easy to like.

I watched one of his mod spotlight videos and felt like I was back in elementary school, but for Minecraft.
Is it me or is starting off always really hard, and for the wrong reason?
Every map I've played doesn't give a necessary amount of food for survival. Last time we had to travel all the way off our first map to find a cow. This time we're on an island and there is no cow, and no carrots for pigs. Most of the time it's just better to walk to the cliff near your spawn and jump off so you'll respawn with full health.

He talks like his audience is all six years old, which is probably accurate, but a little annoying for me to listen to after a while.
I don't get that vibe, but he does try to be family friendly so that's a reason I can see you guys feeling like that.

Ever had a hand at fishing? Only a couple string and some sticks, so it should be acquirable after a night.

A combination of both attempting to be family-friendly and also explaining everything that he does, even commonly known things or things from previous series, can give that effect.
The only reason he explains things from previous series is because of viewers who just started watching only the newest series [sp]Such as myself, I really need to go through his older videos at some point[/sp]
I'm trying to make a modpack focusing on adventuring and slight touches of magic. But I don't want a massive load of mods. What are the best adventuring mods?

Definitely dimensional doors. It's really useful, interesting, and even a little creepy if you get dropped off somewhere you really don't want to be.
Another good one is Mystcraft. Doubt I need to explain that one.

Mystcraft and Dimensional Doors are a good way to add a bunch of adventuring, and each have a slight touch of magic.
Thaumcraft is a heavily-magic mod, but you're not required to keep your wand on you 24/7 to do basic things in the game, only when you're actually casting. It also includes it's own guide on how to do things that is neither overbearing nor underinformative.

I'd suggest Ars Magica but the author is very adamant about not putting his mod in a pack.
Oh shit, pageking, have some pictures of the inside of my renovated desert temple:

If anyone is curious about the Dense Ores page in Mystcraft, I finally managed to create a world that isn't unusable. Its only downsides are Scorched Surface and Charged, but now that I have quantum armor, those aren't really issues.
So here's a 50x50 cross-section of a normal world, without dense ores (missing a few diamonds and shit because my friend showed up to mine the wall after I was there)

And here's a 50x50 of a dense ores world:

I got 5 full stacks of diamonds out of that, among other treasures.
I once went into a dense ores world with a Fortune III pickaxe. I had to stop mining because my inventory was full of diamonds.
Reminds me of how I just found diamonds on my first night
Best part is, I have a mod that makes ore 2x rarer and the veins 20% smaller.
The first time I found diamonds I whacked away at it with like a stone pickaxe and wondered why I didn't get anything when I finally broke the block

When I first got my diamonds, I crafted a pickaxe straight away and went mining. I didn't know 'Q' dropped things.

I just realised how clever the Thaumcraft maker is for calling his mods "Amber bearing stone" and "X-infused stone" since that means Mystcraft won't pick it up and increase it's quantity.

what the fuck is that thing and how do i use it to take over the world
It's a Steve's Carts train. The engine consists of a torch placer, drill, sensors, and a shooter. Behind it is a workbench cart, alternating between seat/storage cart and storage cart, with another engine facing behind the train in the back. Part of the magic of these things is how modular they are.
what, exactly, does it do?
what, exactly, does it do?
From the looks of it, this train bores a tunnel and some people can sit in the seat carts for the ride.
Drills a tunnel while laying tracks and placing torches I think
[t]http://i.imgur.com/HMlvOfm.jpg[/t]
Yes, it's a series of Steve's Carts. But, and here's the trick, they're all connected using Railcraft's cart linking system. The carts on the ends have a drill, a liquid sensor, an advanced shooter set to kill monsters, a bridge builder, a track layer, and a torch placer. All the other carts besides the workbench cart are just full up on storage, with seats every two carts because that's how far apart you can still interact with them while seated.
It's pretty fucking baller. One issue is that all those modules only work if the cart is powered by an engine, and the only engines move the cart. I'mma suggest engines that don't cause the cart to move, or a way to decouple the transmission or something, so that you can have active carts in places besides the ends
