Personally I'd like to see other kinds of gems have some sort of mystical technological application, like how Redstone is for electronics and Nether Quartz is for Comparators and Daylight Sensors. For example, maybe Sapphires could be used in some kind of Barrier Ward for generating a protective forcefield.

That sounds badass.
Well I just drew the conclusion of the whole Magic Gems kinda trope, and for some reason the colour blue resonated as "protection".
Thaumcraft sounds very similar to your idea.

Unbelievable without cheating.

You can get it in a mod on ftb.

Soul Shards to make spawners, got a tier five zombie spawner, have a ComputerCraft attack turtle at the end of the mob trap, it deposits into a chest which extracts rotten flesh into an upgraded barrel, took a busted chainmail item from the chest, ventured to the Twilight [del]Zone[/del] Forest to find a map focus after battling minotaurs, and build an uncrafter just to make fire. The Testificate knowledge has been passed onto me.
You know, there's something I've always wondered about: playing as a nomad in Minecraft. Starting in Creative, you find a village or a seed that contains one, and then give yourself 10 emeralds and nothing else. Using those ten emeralds, you have to buy and sell various items (no breaking blocks you haven't placed), and then set off and see how far it'll take you. I'm not quite sure of the 'value' of emeralds, but it would certainly be interesting.
[editline]1st March 2013[/editline]
Easy Mode: 50 emeralds
Normal Mode: 20 emeralds
Hard Mode: 10 emeralds
Sound interesting to anybody? I'll probably end up trying it myself.
It sounds like a neat idea but I don't think it would work out very well or be fun.

Yeah, villagers often want exorbitant amounts of cash for their wares for some stupid reason.
I am now officially part of the Angry Pixel modding group!
What do I do? I, uh, write mod reviews...yeah.

I need a better name for my Thaumcraft mod. Liquid Vis doesn't cut it anymore, since it goes far beyond that now.
Hate it when bats fly in front of my pickaxe when mining. Makes me feel really guilty and they aren't even real

Thaumic Extensions?
On a similar note, do you intend to remake any of the functions of liquid vis in Thaumcraft 2, like the arcane enchantment table that let you pick the enchantments you want? You could have it require a small amount of liquid vis (like fill up it's internal buffer and that's enough to enchant one item) and requiring aspects for given enchantments - purity for silk touch, ignis for fire aspect, whatever-the-anvil-icon-is for unbreaking, etc

If you want a rather silly name, how about Thaumchinery?

I tried something similar in hardcore mode. Always on the move, but if I found a village, I stayed the night and protected it from zombies. Got old fast. Whole lot of wandering around on your own.

It's best to do such a thing in Superflat. If you can avoid the Slimes, being a nomad until you find a sapling in chests is a lot of fun.
Also, if you don't find iron or buckets, you'll also have to look for a village that has a fountain near a forge, and then make the lava and the water meet without burning the village down, to make a cobblestone generator. I find that challenging and entertaining, for some reason.

I was going to, but Azanor is apparently already planning something similar, so I'm gonna see where he goes with that.
Speaking of hardcore, would anyone else agree that adding a "recreate world" option in the place of the inactive respawn on the hardcore death screen would be good? Regenning the world from the same seed because, having just died, you're unable to grab the seed without third-party programs and even that requires a bit of cheatery to avoid the world being deleted while also preventing Minecraft locking the world file from being opened by another program.
Does anyone know how to fix the issue with some sounds not playing when playing an instance in MultiMC?
Am I the only one who uses Minecraft Profile Manager instead of MultiMC? I hope not.
I use MagicLauncher. Works reasonably well, don't really see a reason to use another one.

Why can't the generator do this most of the time? This is uncommon.

"Singurr Prayer" spawns you in the ocean. Spawning on actual land (and that isn't an ice plain) is uncommon.

No one else on the server still believes this is a legit build. It just takes aggressive drilling and UU matter to make a 4x4 chunk hunk of iron.
[QUOTE=Oicani Gonzales;39762909]made my first hardcore world (because i'm probably the only person ever that hasn't played minecraft sp)
as I spawned I saw a TC3 obsidian totem thing with a chest in it. Rushed there, almost got killed by a wisp 2 minutes in but managed to get this cool loot

...and then I saw a village farm in the distance. Found this in the blacksmith's chest.

Is this using your Mindwolf20 pack?
What is this talk of gold being butter?
So I'm not entirely sure where I want to go with my thaumcraft mod, so I want the your opinion here.
Should I stick with the liquid vis idea as the core of this mod, and just build around that? Or should I branch out, and make this into more of it's own mod, just still revolving around Thaumcraft. (Think Thermal Expansion)

I'd say do a bit of both. Whatever feels more comfortable for what you're adding at the time.
[sp]Also call the mod Thaumal Expansion[/sp]
Pretty sure KingLemming would sue me. He already yelled at me for having a mod similar to his Omni-wrench.
I'm thinking it'll just end up branching out. Though, with the supposed changes for TC3.1, a lot of what I've done so far will be pointless, but I guess we'll see.
Also, here. Stalk my progress.

[QUOTE=pansarkurt;39770472]What is his talk of gold being butter?[/QUOTE]
It's from a reviewer called SkyDoesMinecraft, for some reason he calls gold butter (and pronounces it budder) literally all the time, even when having a normal chat with other players. I guess it's his shtick.
