Why don't you buy some cheap headphones? Motherboard sound fried itself?
My headphones are just fine. The problem is, that when not using -nosound, the game horribly sutters and I get <10 fps. All sounds are also horribly deformed and kchhhrrrr kchrrr kchrhrhhrh.
[sp] The rubble obviously isn't going to still be there, after 200 or however many years[/sp] [editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
My headphones are just fine.
Just completed it. [sp]Brilliant ending. But on the surface was a corn field? In the first game the surface was a (rubble strewn) compound. And does this mean the whole tropical forest overrunning the facility at the start of the game was somehow faked? I thought absolutely forever had passed? Is it just wild corn and there's just... Nothing left but a fake shed?[/sp]
[sp]1) Different area 2) Potato[/sp]
And change the audio between hardware and software?
Yeah, I did.. My PC is awful, though and can't handle so much sounds at the same time apparently.. I wish I could let only dialogue and music play. Not givin' shit about the rest.
Finished. I loved the ending. Took me 8 hours because I took an hour on 2 chambers which I got really stuck on.
Always been like that, except you didn't see the loading screen.
that's not the point. it drives the player away from the experience when it does that. the game doesn't feel as fluid as portal 1 does in this respect, because every time I finish a chamber it goes back to a loading screen that reminds me i'm playing a videogame and have to wait. immersion breaks, hurts the game. they should remove them.
That was the most satisfying game I have ever played. Dat ending.
I'm looking for a Swedish / Finnish swedish Co-op buddy. With a mic.
And change the audio between hardware and software?
excuse me what?
[sp]The facility is enourmous, you don't think there's atleast 2 exits? :v:[/sp]
[sp]That's what I thought. If you look back, Wheatley's lair feels like it's MILES away from GLaDOS' original chamber.[/sp]
First play through: Normal pace. second play through: Wait a few minutes every time someone talks to hear all the dialog.
I can't believe valve added loading screens between maps honestly
Agreed. Sure, there were nice touches, such as the Aperture Science logo changing throughout the game, but I, by far, prefer just "Loading..." across the screen with no interruption. It was also a part of what amazed people with Half-Life 1, you were never pulled out of the experience. And I also prefer the HL2-esque menu.
excuse me what?
Ah, damn. Portal 2 doesn't have the option. I had the exact same thing happen to me in another game a while back, and it was because the audio emulation was running software (iirc).
Just bought it, downloading at a measly speed
I love the menu, actually. I don't see anything wrong with it.
I don't know if anyone noticed this, but I wonder if this was unintentional or intentional Ps: Look at the name of the taunt!

I don't understand, what am I missing?
Play bioshock/ read good books.

Even tried using an FPS config to lower my graphics. Didn't improve the sound one bit. Still stuttery and causes the game to run awful. I am desperate here :smithicide: The game is boring without any sound. If only I could at least have the dialogue.. Atlas Shrugged is a famous book. It's obviously a reference. The name of the book comes from Atlas, who the Greeks (?) believed held the world on his shoulders. So if he shrugged, well...
that was the longest wait of my life...... I started the portal 2 decryption and update at 7.41am... it is now 5.30pm... and I was JUST got to 100%! FINALLY!
Somehow, right after the first hard bridge test, I stopped getting achievements. Weird. Let me re-play this.
Where is the thread for discussing what happened in the game? I just completed it and it was cool as shit. Like my mind is still melting it was really good, best game I've playing in a long time. For some reason my achievements bugged out on some levels and I didn't get the achievements for doing simple shit that you had to do to get past to level.
I can't believe valve added loading screens between maps honestly
yeah, that was the only thing which sucked imo
Weird thing to mention, but did anyone else get a really sweet "3D" effect on the sounds the menu buttons make when you highlight them? Sounded just like the sound was coming from my screen even through my crappy headphones.
