Just finished it, really enjoyed it.
[sp]I was a little disappointed at the lack of tie in with the HL2 universe, I was expecting some hint to what happens after Episode 2... unless I missed it/[/sp]
Great game.

Ah i love how this cool game is getting bashed over 2 small things. Its sad. Anyways i enjoyed the game. It was a tad short. But after replaying Portal 1. It wasn't that hard to beat Portal 2.

Just finished uploading my favorite bit of music from Portal 2 aside from the credits song, the title should explain when it plays (There are no spoilers involved, it's just music with a Portal 2 background image).
About Black mesa being named after the location of the facility, which was a decommissioned cold war missile base (not a spoiler, was known from files from HL2 EP2). You have mistaken Black Mesa with White forest. Black mesa was Black mesa all along. White forest was a missile base that Black Mesa brought soon after cold war - that's how Kliener and others know about it.
Not really, I know that Black Mesa bought White Forest, it still applies to Black Mesa. It used to be a missile command bunker in the cold war, hence all the rockets and missile silos in Half-Life, many of which had been refurbished and reused when it became a civilian facility. I can't remembered if it's mentioned directly in Half-Life, but it is in Raising the Bar.

I've been barely reading this thread, what's being bashed about it?
If it's the store for the co-op bots I kind of agree, I honestly didn't expect there to be microtransactions in Portal 2 but whatever. It's not hurting anyone and it's up to you if you want to buy the items.
Besides, I earned a companion cube flag just for getting an achievement so it's not like you have to buy everything.
Just finished it and I agree, a 10/10 game. Great storyline, amazing gameplay and a nice boost to the Source Engine's graphics. I loved the ending cinematic and song too, overall this game was just pure art, and as such with any amazing Valve game I always get sad when I finish it.
Oh well, at least I have co-op to play still.
10/10 but you have to consider:
1) It's short (but valve went for quality not quantity)
2) Ingame store
3) Source is showing it's age
I hope for Valve's next game that isn't DotA / L4D (aka their next story driven game) we see a longer game and a new engine. And no microtransactions.

Took me seven hours, I don't know if I'm stupid or what :saddowns:

HINT: Behind you is an angled panel, and in front of you is a faith plate. Also use the blue thingy.
Does anyone know where I can buy/get the OST?
oh yeah, since we're posting reviews, 10/10
That made me think (hard), it made me laugh, it made me mad, it made me want to cry (I'm not fucking joking about any of this I experienced all of these emotions), it made me surprised, and even if I had a few things spoiled, I was still continuously surprised. The storyline, the animations, the sounds, and especially the gameplay all really tied in with the brilliant writing to make one fantastic orgasm of a game.

Example of source showing it's age here?
So where's that [sp]Borealis[/sp] thing that's apparently in Portal 2?
Took me seven hours, I don't know if I'm stupid or what :saddowns:
I'm pretty smart and it took me seven hours. Don't feel bad! :buddy:
Also, I didn't think it was short. The length was just right for me. Any longer and it would've been droning on.

I don't mean to be 'That Guy', but there is really nothing wrong with microtransactions, I had a spare 5 dollars, so I bought something that I wanted.
I beat the game at 9AM. Was one of the best games I have ever played.

If anything this is showing how the Source engine can be easily renewed and still has a lot of life in it.

Low resolution textures, gels were cool but not amazing, and destruction is kinda cool but looks bad.

Just over 5. I don't see how review sites are saying 9+. I even waited around for dialogs to finish and stuff. I do plan on another playthrough to find EVERYTHING though.
And I haven't touched coop
Where are the music files?
I couldn't find them in the GCFs.
Source is showing it's age
Hell no. This game looks fucking amazing. And it's actually better optimized than L4D series.
My only graphics complaint is those shit looking cubes that you can see in some of those [sp]messed up elevators[/sp]
also yeah the in-game store is for cosmetics. no biggie

Destruction looks bad? Are we playing the same game?
Woop woop! Got all of the SP achievements
I really hope that Portal 2 engine isn't a different fork, because all those improvements are so amazing.
