What the hell are you talking about? They're the best race. Might not be the strongest. But they're the bravest and have the most courage and fight for what they believe in (Or dont and get shot in the face by the commissioner).
If Dawn of War was a Total War game, the entire Imperial Army would route in the first rounds of fire. But thanks to Commissars and high death rates, they get shot in the face or get eaten by a Tyranid before they run away Go back and play the first Dawn of War, their morale breaks all the time (though morale breaking doesn't cause them to run away, otherwise the game would have serious flaws). Heck the tau builder drone, a robot, has more moral than a squad of guardsmen [editline]11:30PM[/editline]
Chaos marines are just corrupted Space Marines, simple as that. And they are deformed by the warp.
It's not as simple as that...
Only thing i find bullshit is that the main chaos antagonist, is Elphias, and we all remember what happened to him. How does one come back by being obliterated by a Daemon prince, AND switch legions?

They just need the right stuff to get them going. In DOW 1 a fully upgrades Squad is cheap and can dominate even stronger troops with sheer fire-power. You probably just watch cinematics or played as necrons, Imperial guardsmen also have the best armor in the Galaxy. Even in BFG the imperial Guardsmen (Fleet in this case) have High armor rolls (5+ and 6 on capitol ships). Sure it doesn't take much to break the moral of 1 guardsmen, try breaking the moral of a hundred of them.
try breaking the moral of a hundred of them.
Well then you just gotta kill 51 of them to make them do a morale check. Sounds easy enough And I never said their armor divisions weren't fucking awesome. Also since the new DoW is more to-scale than the first, a Baneblade wouldn't technically fit on the DoW2 maps very well lol Size reference: [editline]11:58PM[/editline] And technically both Marines and Guard are part of the Imperium, so what the fuck does it matter
Use the Imperial Guard with no the Limit Mod(It removes all unit caps). The IG is unstoppable. The Imperial Guard is supposed to be a DEFENSE-Based Faction. They are good with Ranged weapons. Baneblades, from what I have seen are their only good Offense Unit.
Leman Russ would like to ahve a word with you.
Well I am talking about in the game and well I have not been able to beat any faction outside of the orks as the Imperial Guard. Reasons: Necron-Monolith Rape Tau-Powersuit rape Chaos-Walker rape Eldar-never played against them Space Marines-Only played with them as my ally Other IG-?
And technically both Marines and Guard are part of the Imperium, so what the fuck does it matter
Well in Dark Crusade the Marines and the IG are fighting against against each other, but that was due to the governor's pride in his regiment.
OMGGGGGGGGGGG playing as a hive tyrant in last stand will be awesome

They should make a Total War-style campaign for DoW3, instead of one world, have a few solar systems (or the whole galaxy, but that may be a bit big), when you attack a planet it goes into battle-view (AKA the normal RTS mode). Of course this would mean adding space battles and a lot more stuff, but it would be awesome. That or give us a game that follows the fluff more.
I'd say we have at least 2 more expansions before a chance of thinking of Dow3
I can see what Relic wanted to do with Dawn of War 2, elite squads of kickass marines. THey couldn't do taht with DoW 1 for balance reasons, a Space Marine squad should be able to walk into an Ork base and obliterate it. Or an IG base, but they couldn't, for balance purposes. Hence the super space marines mod :D But I do want total wawr style battles, or that scale at least. Lights of the Warp Apocalypse is good an' all though, my current favourite mod. KHAAAAAAAAAAARN!

I have played the first Dawn of War and I think I know which race are the best and its imperial guard. I think you need to do some research buddy

No matter how many times you say something is better than the other, you're never going to be right or wrong because someone else out there will think the opposite and it'll all wind down to your word against theirs. On topic, excuse me if this was already mentioned, but will any alterations be made to the last stand game mode?

On topic, excuse me if this was already mentioned, but will any alterations be made to the last stand game mode?
According to the developers, yes a lot of stuff will be added to LS (like two new heroes, one for Chaos and one for the Tyrranids).
Uumm... I have played the first Dawn of War and I think I know which race are the best and its imperial guard. I think you need to do some research buddy
*sigh* I was talking about fluff / tabletop wise. Total war games are a bit more realistic with the whole routing thing. And yes, Guard is mainly for defense, so they'd have no where to route to anyway. And I'm not your buddy, guy [editline]11:39AM[/editline] Also DoW3 shouldn't be made by Relic, they can no longer be trusted with 40k
OMGGGGGGGGGGG playing as a hive tyrant in last stand will be awesome
If they let you be a hive tyrant, they could make you one of the other two heroes.
Uumm... I have played the first Dawn of War and I think I know which race are the best and its imperial guard. I think you need to do some research buddy
Gee thats funny, cause I remember you couldn't even play as the imperial guard and almost every other cinematic showed them sucking and you having to help. Also I don't really care if some of you thought the imperial guard was the best race when you were playing on mulitplayer or doing that take over every planet to win little campaign thing. In the story, the cinematics ect they're the floor which you walk on. Remember the intro to pretty much all the games apart from Dow2? I remember them starting with the imperial guard either dieing or running away. Remember Dow1? You clean up and defend for the imperial guard because they were cowards and being raped. Soulstorm? I remember the intro involving something about the whole imperial guard falling within a day, being slaughtered or claimed by the madness of chaos. Can't remember the other intro's but they probably involved the imperium guard dieing somewhere. Sure they may of been abit over powered in multiplayer but thats because all races are pretty much buffed and balanced so its all fair. Technically they're not so good and thats why they need Space marines to pick up the pieces.
I want to play as a Chaos Force Commander in Last Stand.
I want to play as a Chaos Force Commander in Last Stand.
Yeah..but they might make it the chaos corrupt librarian or something because we've already got the Space marine force commander. Unless they open up more heroes for us or something, would be nice to build something as a engineer or be a medic or something.
i hope they add a shitload more sync kill animations, those are my favourite part of the DoW games
its all well and good but some times the sync kills while looking awesome cause your units to get hammered and you can't do anything about it whille they're kicking that unit's ass, the blood thirster in DoW 1 was especially bad for that
Didn't sync kills actually protect your unit while they happened?
Yeah..but they might make it the chaos corrupt librarian or something because we've already got the Space marine force commander. A Chaos sorcerer can probably transform into a daemon prince or a greater daemon <3

Their armour is remarkably poor in comparison to standard Space Marine power armour
IG are awful, hence the need to stack hundreds of them to do any good. Their armour is remarkably poor in comparison to standard Space Marine power armour
He was saying armor as in tanks and artillery IG have the best armor
So? A Chaos sorcerer can probably transform into a daemon prince or a greater daemon <3
Never said it was a bad thing xD
Well, To get back ontopic of this game instead of complaining about lore or imperial guardsmen. (Steel legion are the best.) How will the corruption meter work out, Will the Space marines end up becoming Chaos marines after it's done, Will we be able to follow any of the gods. (Nurgle plox.)
Uumm... I have played the first Dawn of War and I think I know which race are the best and its imperial guard. I think you need to do some research buddy
Imperial Guard can't make a last stand, and guardsmen are useless without leaders. Plus, Dawn of War is not an actual reflection of the 40k universe. Imperial Guardsmen lasguns aren't even suppose to dent, let alone pierce Space Marine armor. I don't play tabletop 40k, nor own a codex for any of the races, but i've read some of the Space Marine books. (Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Death Guard and others i can't think of right now)
According to fluff calculations, 150 guardsmen would be enough to kill about 8 space marine, that is if they were all firing at the same time. Guard are great and all, but they're very hard to pull off. Guard will always end up having large casualties. Still, Relic plans to have Guard in the next expansion (They said Chaos and Imperial guard will be the first two army added)
Just completed wave 20 of The Last Stand. Took me 30 minutes on the last wave. ITS FUCKING HARD
