You talk like you're 100% sure about this.

It's true people might try to code something like it but most likely it would prove to be an overwhelming task and thus would be horribly buggu/nearly unplayable.

Basically like morrowind/oblivion multiplayer. It exists but it's so shit that nobody goes even near it.
