• Consoles: How do you aim?

Everyone takes forever to aim, so it balances out the faggotry. It'll all be over the second microsoft releases the update allowing console players to play against PC players. :smug:
It's piss easy on consoles compared to on PC. Having not played on a console for a few years I went to a friend's house and played MW2, I was top of every match and my friends were gawping at my leet skills. Really I was just so used to having to aim properly on PC that the slow reactions of the average Xboxer were shit in comparison.
What friends? :v:
Xbox - 200$, given, this is the arcade and is the cheapest. 5 Games from gamestop or whatever - 300$, 60$ for a new release. Live - 50$ for a year. Internet - 20-50$ a month. Can't do anything besides play games. PC - 500-600$ for a basic gaming PC, up to however much you wanna blow on it. 5 Games from steam - 250$, 50$ for each new release, although Valve's games packs and everything would bring it down considerably, to say 150-200$. Internet - 20-50$ a month. Watch movies, facebook, internet, photoshop, whatever you want. Comes down to 900$ for PC, and 700$ for an Xbox, if you extrapolate the buying of games, PC quickly becomes cheaper. I don't really see the logic in this, other then having an Xbox for having friends over.
I have a media center for arcade games, and 4 logitech chillstreams hooked up to it. Total price was around $500 :colbert:
You can't aim :v: Or you mostly run around till you get them in your aim :suicide: [editline]11:58AM[/editline] Automerge FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU /caps
I have a media center for arcade games, and 4 logitech chillstreams hooked up to it. Total price was around $500 :colbert:
I was trying to not overly out do it, question though, are there a lot of games that work well with that setup?
Well, it takes practice, but it's easy. You just have to use both sticks to line up with your enemy, always have the crosshair at head level, and move it to the sides to find the enemy's head.
I can't aim for shit with controllers.
Used to play a 360 before i moved over to PC gaming and its not really that hard. [editline]12:11PM[/editline]
This game looks very interesting. I've never seen anyone on Steam/Xfire playing this... wtf?
no since it failed.
Harder Learning Curve with a pad as opposed to a M+KB. However, I have no doubt that there are Pro Console players who could kick a Pro PC gamers ass on an FPS if you could play cross platform. The opposite is true aswell of course. You have lesser aim with a Pad, due to having to aim with a stick, but you have better movement. An Analog Stick is much better for movement than WASD. If I played alot of FPS', I'd go PC. But Consoles aren't awful, especially if you don't any alternative.
I use both PS3 and PC, while i like playing on PC for the precision, I can't do it all day as it isn't my PC (over half the components are though...). I can aim fine on both, but my aim on PS3 games tends to be a bit off, especially in games with little/ no aim assist. with the PC you get all the twitch aiming, which is fucking annoying if you can't twitch back yourself (and no, I don't have the time to dedicate myself to getting better, I have a actual education to be getting on with, and a job to be looking for). I like to play on my PS3 from time to time as 1) There are a lot of exclusives, even the shooters, that I want, and 2) everyone has the same handicap, the same frame rate, the same hardware, the same texturing. Everything is the same, the only advantages come from being a no-lifer who never stops playing or being some kind of human/ console cyborg bent on topping leaderboards.
Auto-aim
Ehh, you can plug them in, but would the games support them? I doubt it.
Correct. On the X360 you can plug in a keyboard and move and the guide and dash ,but when you go into game its like :smug: "I can work ,but I wont"
Oh I long for the day when PC players can unite with 360 ones in an FPS battle online. Obviously the PC players would have to be given a massive handicap.
Oh I long for the day when PC players can unite with 360 ones in an FPS battle online. Obviously the PC players would have to be given a massive handicap.
Handicapping pc players only because consoles can't keep up is so stupid. Sadly many devs do that.
I usually have a fairly easy time using both, I might just hop on TF2 with my 360 controller and fuck some shit up to see how I do.
With ease. I wish these kind of threads were bannable.
They lead to a lot of trolling bans, if it counts. :haw:
They lead to a lot of trolling bans, if it counts. :haw:
Yeah, I guess. But I still hate when people make these threads, saying in the OP "I don't want to start a Console/PC war but..." when it's clear they do. If one of the mods would just close them before they start because there's far to many these days. [editline]07:48PM[/editline] It's like when Hitler took the Sudetenland. "I don't want a war, but I do want ze Sudetenland! Just let me smash Czechoslovakia to piezes firzt!
Yeah, I guess. But I still hate when people make these threads, saying in the OP "I don't want to start a Console/PC war but..." when it's clear they do
Let me stop you there. How clearly can i express it that I had NO INTENTION of making a flame war? I was hoping people on FP would be mature enough to have a decent conversation. Sadly, it's clear I was wrong. I'm sorry but i take no blame for any flame wars that may come as a consequence of my OP. If people want to deliberately mis-interpret my post... well, go ahead, but it's clearly their fault, not mine. And by the way, to all the smartasses out there that answered the question in the thread name, i'm sorry, but please read the post. Then you would have seen that the more pertinent question was, in fact, "why are console FPS's so popular when the aiming on them is so awkward?", as well as basically who would win in a fight between equally skilled players but who are using different controllers. By the way, to the few people who actually answered my question instead of flailing their arms in the air and making vague gestures (or starting flame wars), thank you. While i may have my answer, pray continue with this delightful discussion. Jgcx
You wanna know how people can aim in console FPS? Because everyone is using the same crippling dual analog controls so it's an even playing field. I guarantee you if they let cross platform play on MW2, the PC players would be at such a huge advantage that all PS3 and 360 players would go play something else because they are tired of their 3 kills 50 death sprees.
my oppinion is, and always will be. sandbox games, driving, platformers and 3rd person action games are native to the console controls. shooters, RTS, TBS and traditional RPG all belong on the pc for best experience.
Fucking this. Gaming genres are not created equal control wise. Different controls match up better with different genres.
Its a balance i think. With a mouse its easier to aim (my opinion) so other people will have that too. Same goes with a stick but i never snipe with consoles, i have horrible aim...
Why are there arguments on this shit anyway? They're electronic devices, you tools. I don't care if you use a giant turtle penis to control your video games, it doesn't really matter.
You can get very proficient at it. At one point I was much better at console aiming than mouse aiming actually. The analog sticks are a bit cumbersome, but some non intrusive aim assist like in Halo (apparently it works not by aiming for you, but simply stabilising your aim to give you more precision) really help dilute that. But really, perhaps the biggest advantage the mouse has over the gamepad, is that in most games you can turn around as fast as you can move your hand. IMHO this is terrible as it pretty much 100% negates any advantage flanking or sneaking up on someone would have otherwise given you. On consoles you are limited to the edge of the analog. Although some games solve the problem differently, like Red Faction II which gave you an "insta-180" button. Basically, If the maximum sensitivity is even across the mouse and the gamepad the biggest advantage is already evened out. Add some aim "assist" for the gamepad and the last bumps in the road should get nearly flattened. On the other hand the all-or-nothing no-granularity-whatsoever coarseness of movement controls on the keyboard always bother me. With the analog you can accurately and smoothly control exactly where you want to go and how much. With WASD you are incredibly limited in this respect.

Yeah about that, you haven't really seen the speed of good console players 'till you've played sniper matches in Halo. That shit is dang fast.

You can't have any type of discussion like this on this forum without elitist assholes coming in to say why their platform is superior. I guess what I should have said was that you maybe should have thought twice before posting the thread.
There's things you can do on consoles you can't on PC's?
No. There's not.
