I swear warlock never dealt this much damage in dota 1.
Culling Blade is the single most satisfying spell in the game.
Gonna go with this as the single most satisfying sound in the game, a successful Culling Blade. There's a bunch of other awesome sounds, but the very loud KACHINK on a kill with Culling Blade is just the best to me.
'GOOD DAY SIR YOU GET NOTHING'
My tied satisfying sounds are Assassinate and Culling Blade. Nothing like finishing off some shit talkers on low health.
fuck man its hard to get into the game when every game I have there's a smurf or everyone leaves.
Striking visual similarities with Dota 2. All the same colors, the hud placement seems the same. Wow.
I mistook that first screenshot for one from DotA.

Looks like lawsuit to me.
Unless they play their cards right, colour-scheme and UI are not really valid points for copyright infringement case, neither is game-style or even mechanic similarities as long as they are not blatant or based on non-copyright-protected material ,like original Dota WC3 map.
What do you guys think? This game is coming out literally a day before the Dota 2 beta in China by the way.

What I'm worried about is that VALVe have a chance to lose the case if either side brings it up. Tencent is an absolutely MASSIVE corporation, and I wouldn't be surprised if they throw money the judge's way if it goes to court.
Hell, with the glaring similarities that might be what Tencent intend to do.

Nah.
1. Dota 2 is already in place and had copyright cases against Blizzard, so it's established product that isn't going anywhere just because one side has money.
2. If they decide to make strategy by copying WC3 Dota to no end, IceFrog, as part of Valve's staff now, might just decide to cut their source.
3. Valve is very stable, private and rich. Read any article about their insight on market, money is by far not their weakness in such cases.
4. One of the main motors of such games is massive and active community. We already have Dota 2 tournaments, Interntional hosted by Valve and more and more people appreciating the change and migrating from WC3 to Steam. Should Tencent try and make a point about copyrights, they'll be target of massive online hate, movement of which is quite nasty. We are talking an important activity for anyone who likes Valve, Dota and has some spare time. And I am not talking just "hatemail', I am talking digging up dirt, sending over important material or direct online attacks.
5. All we know for now is that it's moba and couple screenshots suggest similar map to Dota/Dota 2/League/HoN/etc. Not enough to be paranoid quite yet.

Just on a sidenote, is still alive ? Sure hope so, they might not be big right now, but I remember correctly, they had some sick hero designs at times.

the competitive scene is still alive at least. i check in on honcast every now and then and they're still casting tournaments regularly enough. i don't know how active pub games are though, but i imagine they're about the same as the last time i played back in october
they had a pretty huge content patch though recently, completely overhauling the textures and a lot of the older hero models. and yeah i loved almost all of the designs they had for their ports

also i wish there was some way to port empath from hon to dota
best hero s2 has ever made
I'm kinda curious as to what the strongest carries are outside of Medusa/Void/PL/Spectre/AM. Personally I always rank Luna and Gyro high, but who else? I'd imagine Chaos Knight to be pretty high up too due to his skillset. Is there a list of "carry ranks" somewhere?

I'd say Lone Druid is pretty wrecking.
Obviously also lifestealer, Tiny, Morphling?
It's almost impossible to have a definitive tier list of carries. A ton of carries are situational but less effective in other situations, so you can't define which is 'better' than the other.
Doom can also ball hard if left uncontrolled in jungle.
Ugh, I really want to win at least ONE game as anti-mage. So far they all went haywire.
Can you guys give me a few pointers on when should you have what?
I usually finish my BF at about 16-17 and Manta at 25-26 (I skip boots completely before I get manta, but why would you ever need them when you have blink)

Doom isn't really a hard carry though

If you're having trouble you can just finish a yasha and go heart first.

Doom is exceptional at being tanky as all hell, causing chaos in teamfights and enabling his team to kill 1 particularly slippery fucker because of DOOOOOOOM, but I wouldn't call him a hardcarry.

PA? Skeleton King?
meepo is the greatest hard carry
[editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
dragon knight

It's kinda hard ranking hard carries because of the different roles they fulfill.
Void, Medusa, PL are the strongest 1v1, while a well-placed Gyro ult can be very effective in teamfights.
Alch is extremely strong because he can farm faster, but ultra-late game he can't really do much.
Luna can be extremely strong in the laning phase because of her damage steroid and her nuke, along with her ability to farm large stacks of ancients, giving her a huge gold-boost midgame. The same goes for DK.
But since you'll almost never see two hard carries with exactly equal farm and in a 1v1 situation, it's always a question of who can farm the fastest, who has the best supports and who synergizes best with the rest of their team.
Faceless Void is fun if you want to learn how to position well
Juggernaut.
Each carry has their strong and weak side, everybody has personal preferences but they're still situational.
I'll list a couple of examples:
Void: "The hardest carry". In reality he sort of is, but his strength is teamfights in the lategame. He can cause solo 1v5 teamwipes when farmed. His weakness? Pushing his base in before he is farmed as fuck, shut him down before he gets his items. He can't do much alone early in the game but combos well with some heroes like Lich, Jakiro and Sandking due to their teamfight damage-based ults, Void has the lockdown portion under control.
Antimage: The most annoying carry there is. His job is to rape your supports in teamfights, he can survive their nukes due to his magicresist, while he eats up your mana and does shitload of damage to you in the process. Basically counters enemy team's support heroes to the point where he can wipe teams by himself if given the farm.
His weakness? Physical damage all the way, it isn't new that Gondar can combo AM down from full HP to death in 2 seconds.
Tiny: I'll fuck your base-based carry. Once he gets his Aghanim he can solo your whole base in couple of seconds, has presence in the earlygame with his nukes, can work well for the whole duration of the game.
His weakness? He won't push your base alone if he doesn't get his Aghanim's. He's sort of weak if you keep him from farming, if you succeed only thing he does is stun few guys once every 20 seconds, which is quite long in a teamfight situation, he can do this twice per fight on average.
Dragon Knight: Tanky as fuck carry. Being naturally a STR hero he has lots of HP, combine that with his retarded AGI gain and his passive, he has shitload of armor too. Won't anything new if he refuses to die in fights. Once he hits 16 he can proceed on his rapemode if he's farmed, once he hits you you can't run away and can't really fight back either due to his massive defensive stats.
His weakness? If he doesn't get farmed, he's a stunbot. He can still be tough to kill but he won't do much damage so you can pretty much ignore him.
As you might see, each carry has their weakness of not getting farmed. Nothing new here either, but you can use logic to figure out counters to each of them based on their strengths and weaknesses. Every carry can still win the game alone if you allow them.
