Um...yes you can? I did it.
for me, when i attempt to install it with the disk, it attempts to download 7 gigs of shit presumably it's heart of the swarm content that should really be available for straight from disk to hard drive installation
This is from HoliestCow - Im thinking of making a single player campaign for HotS, before I mention what ive thought of yet, I must stress this involves SPOILERS about Heart of the Swarm. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS [sp] So ive thought of two different ideas for a campaign. A. Its after the campaign finishes, it follows Stukov's storyline, after Kerrigan sets out to find the Xel'Naga, Stukov goes off on his own. This campaign would focus on him, and revolve around the infested Terran and the UED. B. This is near the end of the Heart of the Swarm campaign and takes place on one of the planets that Kerrigan orders her broodmothers to invade. You'll play as one of the Terran factions on the said planet and will revolve around the invasion of the planet and the outcome. [/sp] My question is, which story idea sounds more interesting for a campaign.

But I can see where you would be frustrated. I don't understand why you couldn't do it and when I look at the website it says that you don't even need to install the disc if you already have WoL. That alone doesn't make sense since WoL is required and HotS has data that WoL doesn't. So instead that brood mother decides to do what she believes Kerrigan would have her do and destroy all Protoss she comes across.[/sp]

Just played an AI game as terran to test the new units. Dropped two hellbats in a mineral line and a raven tries to seeker missile them. I pick them up and fly off and the seeker missile kills a bunch of SCVs. :v:
I miss kerrigan's original voice actor that they also used in Diablo 1/2 :(
Hots suck fucking horse cock compared to WoL WoL had epicness, manlyness and was interesting, it kept you on edge. Hots was like [sp]a teen crysis and basically reverting almost everything jim had done in WoL only for lulzrevenge and lulzessences[/sp] blizzard: This was not worth my money, WAY shorter than WoL and very cheesy compared to it
Well now I have to wait three months to play custom games, nice to have a list for open games this time around. Which community is still active in terms of custom map goodness? I tried starcraft and brood war a few years back to see if the community was still strong but it was like on low peak
tbh it was as long as WoL was, it just didn't have equally many missions but the missions themselves took a lot of time though the last mission was easy as hell time to finish it on brutal i guess
ehehehe my friend bought it for my birthday yesterday. Theirs some godawefull writing in the campaign this time around. But the missions are fun and the evolutions are funky.
i got a 2nd copy of HOTS since amazon couldn't cancel my preorder and i have a game key i can trade for something worthwhile. also beaten the game.. awesome storyline
I only just noticed this while playing WoL and finishing HoTS [sp]Spell Narud backwards.[/sp]

Spent 3 evenings. Yeah, that was kinda short. But still i enjoyed the game. Zerg was my least favourite race in SC. [sp]Didnt expect to see Stukov alive again, infested or not.[/sp] And soundtrack, it is great as usual. Also, Abathur reminds me of this guy, dont know why: http://i.imgur.com/B3Tbkop.jpg
Whelp I'm back after a super long hiatus, so I'm even worse than I was before. Considering starting starpunch again, we'll have to see. Does facepunch still have a starcraft community of any note?
did they ever put in the feature of being able to ladder as a different race with its own set of stats? i.e. bronze zerg, but plat protoss or whatever?
Apparently pre-ordering from Microplay now means that they forgot to take down your pre-order so you may have your game by Monday. Should've gone EB Games. EDIT: And now I just got a call telling me it's in. What the fuck is going on?

i am now holiestcow's bitch so here's his idea for a campaign that he is planning to create [sp] Set a few days after the assault on Korhal. Kerrigan now off seeking Amon and having her Broodmothers prepare for the hardest battle they'll face. Stukov went off on his own with a few of Kerrigans forces to assimilate a brood of his own. While seeking out a new place to start his brood, Stukov finds a planet on the outskirts of the Koprulu sector. Little did Stukov know, this planet was unlike any other he has been on before. Lieutenant Thomas Dufay, now Admiral Thomas Dufay, was an original member of the UED expedition force sent out to the Koprulu sector during the second war. He managed to evade the Swarm, when Kerrigan sent out to destroy all remaining UED. Now, Admiral Dufay, with a large UED force, seek to strike the Dominion while they are leaderless, and take over the sector before Kerrigan can return with her swarm.[/sp] I am pretty sure he'd like to hear your opinions on this.

Also that campaign idea sounds neat.

I just play random now so that I may be equally shit at all the races.
Man I'm so lost with hots. Won three of my placement matches and got into gold. Then proceeded to lose a bunch of matches because I was just fucking around with units, ended up falling in love with ravens because seeker missiles don't need the research anymore :v:
Holy shit the campaign missions look fun as fuck
Winning my placements 3-2, 1 of which vs a masters player, get placed in plat and lose every game so far. mad~
Nice, won all 5 of my placements and got placed in diamond. Feels good.
Won all 5 of my placements and have gone 11-3. $wag y0l0.
Ha I forgot the Starship Trooper vibes the original Starcraft had. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3MiUPORv-U[/hd]
So I've been out of the loop for SC2 for awhile, and never got into the beta nor watched any beta streams. I know absolutely nothing about the current metagame or strategies, nor do I intend to do a lot of reading (I want to fuck around with the new units myself before getting too into it) but I still have to ask, are Swarm Hosts any good? I played around with them a bit against the AI and in the campaign, but they seem like they aren't very useful. Maybe I just don't know how to use them. I feel like they should have just bit the bullet and given us Lurkers, instead of "almost lurkers."
