If the viewer base doesn't spike up when hots comes out competitive SC will be completely devoured by MOBAs And I don't like moba style games
It'll spike up, for about 1month, then its back down the toliet with 20kviewer max per HUGE tourney. This esl should be getting double its viewer count.

As someone who tried to get into Starcraft 2 too late, will be HOTS be more newbie-friendly compared to WoL? I haven't necessarily learned everything such as all the units, builds, and some other advanced mechanics.
Depends which way you look at it. Low level play will be a little bit easier. High level play will be filled with even more skill-less bullshit, even more reliant on build orders, unit composition and timings as opposed to mechanical prowess and strategic genius.

Also I haven't played Starcraft series multiplayer but I liked the SC2's singleplayer, should I get anything specific from the series?
Only 3.5 more days until HotS. Gotta start leveling up to unlock these skins:
We can start Leveling since release or not?
You can't level up on WoL, once the game is released I'm guessing the XP counters will get enabled.
Training modes and AI tiers/styles will make adapting to MP a LOT easier for the average player. I wish Blizzard would support esports more, though, because Starcraft has a lot of potential. The main success of League of Legends over SC2 is in its F2P model and the fact that Riot literally pumps money into the esports scene.
So apparently I reached level 30 in the HotS Beta... yeah...

A lot of their updates are making it easier for broadcasters to observe the game. They can't really do much more than that. Starcraft 1 had a slow but very successful life span as the years went by with more and more updates. Starcraft 2 will likely get a similar life line. The only difference is, Starcraft 2 was able to start off where Starcraft 1 left off.
god forbid blizzard hand out the beta to people who sure as hell have so far paid for 3 collectors editions

Seriously, its ruined the game soooo much.

The pro's are more entertaining in their battles as they have better skill in microing their armies. The only way to change any of that would be to get rid of the unlimited unit selection, which some would argue would be a devastating change to the game.
If the viewer base doesn't spike up when hots comes out competitive SC will be completely devoured by MOBAs And I don't like moba style games
Moba style games are fun but they are fucking AWFUL to watch.

Blizzard adding custom UIs to HotS does not serve esports as much as Riot literally pumping money into tournaments to promote their game does.
Moba style games are fun but they are fucking AWFUL to watch.
I think it depends on the caster and the teams watching it solo can get boring, but if you have a good caster/aggressive teams, its really fun/heart pounding
The only good time I had watching a MOBA was during IEM Katowice when xpeke had that sweet blink micro as Kassadin in the final (I think). Aside from that, MOBAs are pretty bland for me to watch, especially because they're so hectic. One-on-one RTSes are a ton of fun to watch because you can see what's going on.
we should talk about sc2 :)
So, i can play HotS on 12th? I dont need to download 5-6 gb (or how many?)
idk watching 15 minute turtle games that end with 200/200 engagements with minimal micro for over a year loses its appeal 2011 was fun because people dropped and harassed all over the map also mkp and his marine splitting even foreigners could do some epic micro, even though jinro hadnt really won anything in a long time his micro was off the walls
Moba style games are fun but they are fucking AWFUL to watch.
I don't like MOBAs because the basic game mechanics feel like a chore. Also, I suck at competitive games. Which is probably why I didn't bother with StarCraft 2 multiplayer much. It always felt as though my opponent was operating on a level so far above mine that I could probably do nothing and have just as much influence in the battle.
we can play still the hots beta?! dafuq
Well the gsl final was really one sided and now the IEM final is looking pretty one sided I am getting very little sleep to see these games TT
Well the gsl final was really one sided and now the IEM final is looking pretty one sided I am getting very little sleep to see these games TT
How'd it go?
I never got what the appeal was for Moba's. They're fucking boring and take no skill.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight... [editline]9th March 2013[/editline]
Moba style games are fun but they are fucking AWFUL to watch.
DOTA2 is fucking amazing to watch. The problem with ARTS (fyi: MOBA can refer to CoD, Quake, et al. as well...) is that you have to understand the game, otherwise you have no idea what's going on. Also LoL is waay too fucking idiotified for the gameplay that watching it is actually boring, but DOTA2, especially now, is incredibly action packed. Just requires the game knowledge.
