A "Epic" Mickey Game in production - Concept art inside!

That's a little disappointing they toned it down, but it's still got a year until release. I've still got hope in it.
Goddamn you guys, these are the first screenshots of the game, and you guys are saying the game will fail just because of this? There's a YEAR LEFT. Instead of saying nonsense bullshit, how about you actually DO something and e-mail him. I don't know if he will accept your "feedback", but at least you're not raging like a kid.
Also, just going to repeat Foda:
HL2 on the beginning -

HL2 Episode 2 -

Also, take in fact that they are not magicians, they can't make concept arts simply come true.
Again: These are the first screenshots, game will be released in a year, and "graphics" is not the only thing that matters in a game.
I'm done.

Not a fair comparison, PCs got more capable as time went on. The Wii won't. :eng101:
MY main gripe is everything looks... Zany. I mean it's a dark-ish kind of zany but it's still zany. What happened to that nightmare-inducing stuff we saw in the concept art? Granted the over-all quality of the in-game models would leave a bit to be desired no matter what direction they went, but I'd still rather like to see those broken-down old "friends" as they were first presented, and the so-called "beetleworks" as well.

1. Those are the first screenshots ever released. Give them time and I bet you that by 2010 you will have a better game.
2.

That exposed ribcage Donald looks kickass. I hope we'll see the zombified Goofy too.
Also, Spector said he wants this game to scare kids :ssh:
Wow I haven't really been watching this that much but the magazine scans look shit
Spector said he wants this game to scare kids :ssh:
That's another answer for the guys saying that "this game has been toned down so its going to be a piece of shit". Spector rocks, and if it wasn't for him, this game wouldn't even exist.
I'm excited to see how they f*cked up the Walt Disney World. Can't wait to ride Spaceship Earth- I mean, Spaceship Death.

This is gonna be awesome.

Also, here's a shitload of info taken from Game Informer.
- Mickey's appearance is much, much closer to his original debut style
- Disney was the one to approach Spector
- Spector originally was against the idea of creating a Mickey game, because he said that he didn't do kids games
- Spector changed his mind when Disney said that they were looking for someone to 'reinvigorate' Mickey
- Disney had to get back the rights to Oswald before he could be used in this game
- the sorcerer Yensid creates a pen-and-paper world for his forgotten creations, which is where Oswald lives
- this world is similar to Walt Disney World
- Mickey enters this world through a magic mirror, and accidentally spills paint and paint thinner on the drawing of this world. Mickey escapes before Yensid finds out.
- The spill that Mickey caused ends up turning the drawing into a twisted version of what was originally created.
- the Phantom Blot ends up taking over this world
- many years later, after Mickey becomes successful, he re-enters the mirror and sees what has happened to the world. The Phantom Blot drags Mickey into the world, which is where your adventure begins
- use the Wiimote to paint in buildings, platforms and more
- swipe away enemies with the Wiimote when using paint thinner
- create/destroy the world as you go along
- Junction Point took hundreds of photos while at Disney World in order to capture the essence of the park, and translate ideas into the game
- play the game as you like, either destroying everything in sight, or taking the hero's route. It's completely up to you, and you can mix-and-match play styles
- Gremlin Village is reminiscent of 'It's a Small World'
- Mickey's appearance and stance will change based on the way you play the game
- trade some items for health
- Pete returns, and at one point attacks you with a huge zepplin
- Donald Duck animatronic pieces are scattered throughout one portion of the game. Collect them to put him back together.
- Spector wants this game to scare kids, in some ways
- the game will also have funny parts
- Spector calls the game world's visuals 'the bastard child of Tim Burton and Disney'
- elements of platforming, exploration and role-playing
- go into the inner-workings of some levels and rides
- visit the gears and mechanics underneath the 'It's a Small World' ride, complete with an eerie re-imagining of the music
- enter movie screens to move from in-game island to island
- movie screen transitions put you into a 2d world, where you'll revisit some of Mickey's old cartoons
- find sketches, and bring them to life with your paintbrush
- sketches can be activated to give you new powers (clock sketch to slow time, TV sketch to distract enemies, and more)
- collect 'E-Tickets' to enter rides, and use as a form of currency to buy power-ups
- Jim Dooley 'Pushing Daises' is doing the soundtrack
More (+Source): http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=100611
They can do a lot of jokes with the rides names:
It's a horror world
Dumbo the dying elephant
Hell cruise
Spaceship Death
The Dying Seas
The Tree of Death

Those are all totally different games, and pictures of the final results of said games. Again, not a fair comparison. What I said was in response to people comparing this game to how HL2 looked in BETA and how it looked when it was DONE years later, the reason BEING for that is that PCs got more and more powerful, allowing Valve to do bigger and better things. With the Wii, what you have is what you have to work with.

I never said the game looked like shit, just that it wasn't as dark as I'd have liked it. l2read

What do you mean "not fair comparisons"? Just because theyre different games and the final results., that means its not a fair comparison. They exceeded the expectations of the normal people because everyone thought it would fail due to the Wii's graphic limitations.
Well, seeing all the old Disney characters is nice, and there's always a chance they'll make it "Nintendo scary" (Not outright scary, just unsettling things).
There's still some hope, I hope.
Indeed, this game is gonna be epic

Let me try explaining this ONE MORE TIME.
People were comparing HL2 beta screens to the final HL2 release as a means of saying "the games visuals will improve like this!", which is not an accurate comparison because, as I've explained, PCs have gotten more powerful during the time it took to go from the beta version to final release, while the Wii has not, nor will it ever. Does this have any real implication of how the game WILL look? No, just saying that it's a dumb comparison. Now, had they, oh I dunno, posted a beta screen of *insert console game here* that looked like shit and then posted a final pic of *insert same console game here* and it looked better, that would be an acceptable comparison.
As for those screens you posted, the fact that they're the final result only proves that the game will look decent, not that it'll change as dramatically as the examples set forth by other posts. The look of the final result is ENTIRELY UP TO THE DEVELOPER, so just because Super Mario Galaxy nearly made me cream my pants is not a 100%, or even 75% guarantee that Epic Mickey will do the same (but it just might).
And in the end, it's not really the horse-power of the Wii that made Epic Mickey a Wii exclusive, nor is it what made the games you posted truly great. It's the CONTROLS, which Epic Mickey appears to be applying nicely to its particular play-style. (as far as we can tell from scans of a magazine anyway)
Hopefully they'll add an effect like in those concept art of Mickey, ink flowing and dripping off him as he moves, like he's slowly being erased or even was still "Wet" hell, everything like that would be incredible.

PC hardware efficiency will increase as time goes on, allowing for bigger and better things to be created for it.
The Wii's hardware can not be improved upon, unless a new console is made.
Looks like they're holding back on the "Epic" part.
I like Mickeys look in this game
lol check out these epic Mickey scans. Looks like this game is shaping up to be one epic crock of shit

Am I the only one who likes the looks of this? I mean holy shit, side scroller levels based on classic cartoons and shit. I am looking forward to this game to say the least.
It looks like a PS2 game.But it's kinda awesome.

I think its got potential.
I think its got potential.
My only problem is Mickey looks great and Oswald looks like shit.
[editline]09:03PM[/editline]
Well, not my only problem, but a really noticeable one.
My only complaint with the screens is that they really should have gone for a more stylized look. This game would've really benefited from an Okami-style 'living painting' sort of aesthetic.
My only complaint with the screens is that they really should have gone for a more stylized look. This game would've really benefited from an Okami-style 'living painting' sort of aesthetic.
But Disney shit would look awful like that. Okami was supposed to look like Japanese art, not western cartoon art.
Maybe things'll get more scary once people get out of the first level. Maybe the first level's screenshots is just to keep the soccer moms from trying to prevent Epic Mickey from "turning our kids into a new generation of rapists, murderers, arsonists, and jaywalkers."
Honestly, looks great to me. The one here in the top left,

looks really nice. I love the colour gradient of the green slime spilling from the Dragon's mouth, and the different shades on that window-type thing as well. There's some texture up-rezzing that needs to be done, but this is already looking really nice to me.
3 days or so until the "OFFICIAL UNVEILING" in London.
[editline]12:01AM[/editline]
Also, I love how Mickeys character model looks in the center right picture of the magazine scan.
Based on the screenshots, this is going to be crappy.
this looks like shit.
generic cartoony sidescroller. nothing left of the disturbing, atmospheric concept art. im out of here
