KSP is well optimized for what it is. I've never had any performance hiccups, except when running FAR.
What you people need to do is to rigidify your designs to decrease the amount of physics collisions.
Guys, I made this small list of mods:

Sorry, I literally copied it from reddit
fuck's sake facepunch actually post my posts
I am loving these little utility micro-ships I've been making. This one is basically nothing more than a spotlight with a docking port on the back. The reason I made it is because my station has a big lack of lighting down the center of it. To fix that, I was going add a light to the solar panel sections I was planning on building. The problem was, I didn't know what kind of light, or at what angle I need the light to be pointed.
In comes the little spotlight probe. I positioned it where I know the solar panels are going to go, and by moving the probe around I can get an idea of what angle I need to put the spotlight on the upcoming solar panel section.
This little thing will probably stay docked to the station. In case I ever need a mobile light for something I have one. It also has a docking port, so it could theoretically also be used as an attachable headlight.

Something about that makes me wanna stick it in there.
Edit: Docking, of course.
that's really cute wow
I imagine it'd look really awesome if you got mechjeb and set a bunch of those tiny ships (lamps, fuel, crew transport, and tugs) to circle around the main station like bugs.

mini monorail systems would rock my socks
Can't wait till all my exams are over so I can play KSP again. Haven't played for the past few updates. Can't wait to make some rovers and head to Mun! :D

I am getting a 2001 vibe here.

How did they launch that.
So the team hasn't said any updates on status of forums?
What annoys me is they have www.kerbalspaceprogram.com running and they can't just transfer forums onto there temporarily?
With a rocket.
Anyone able to PM me a copy of a non-steam KSP.exe? My steam is having issues, and I really don't want to have to fix it right away

try building a craft with more than 100 parts and see how it works for you bro. try and make a space station with more than 100 parts and see how it works.
it isn't physics collisions, it's the fact that the game is poorly optimized and cannot handle more than a small number of parts having their physics calculated at any point in time.

As a race? not gonna happen, they could be hidden as an easter-egg on some planet, but they won't work as a race
So is the only fully working shuttle mod (opening cargo bay etc) bobcats buran?
The CSS is for an outdated version like 0.16
I'll have my shuttle Atlantis out by the end of this week hopefully, hoping to rival bobcats buran in terms of functionality

race specialized in explosives and high risk high return, pretty much like the goblins in bloodbowl/orks in general.

I actually reached out to contact them. We'll see what happens I suppose. Starbound is a neat looking game.
As for the servers. Rob and Alex have been working really hard all weekend to get them back up and running. They're making really good progress and should hopefully have it fully operational soon.
The reason it took so long is that the server is offsite, and it's taking a really long time to transfer the backups to and from the server during repair. We're talking gigs upon gigs of data from the combined storage of the entire forums and spaceport. Just imagine trying to download every single mod on there, and you get the idea.
As for using the main site to host the forums. Short answer, even if we could do the transfer, it can't handle the traffic of all three sites.
Edit: I do my best. Heh

C7, can you comment on possible optimization in the near future?
Also does Unity support multi-threaded applications and 64-bit and if so, do you guys plan to utilize such things? I can easily say that we would all greatly benefit from such things.

afaik unity 4 added that
but it came with a development kraken so they delayed it

The Linux version has a 64 bit executable, though being unfamiliar with Unity I'm not sure that means anything.
