Oh my fucking gawd.
Finally.
After building this station since December when 0.18 dropped... I am FINALLY done. What a learning experience that was.

Playing KSP on-and-off and trying to get all the modules to rendezvous was a pain in the ass, let alone getting them to dock together... all without the help of Mechjeb, which I've never got around to using... maybe it's time...
So I went into my save, was building myself something at random, went to the runway... the game started lagging, and it took me a moment to realize I'd left something on the launchpad.

God damn mechjeb messed up my station's orbit. RCS fuel and everything has ran out and my station core is slowly floating towards nothing.
let go of your mechjeb ways
come to the brotherhood of lazorsystem
only if you can bring the great forum online
god damnit weren't the forums supposed to be up...yesterday?
finally, got a satellite into orbit!

I sent up a station core to a low orbit (about 80km), with the intention of first sending a Kerbal over to it with an EVA (since I left off an unmanned thing and just have the hitchiker pod) so I can control it and have later parts dock onto it -- but oh wow an orbital rendezvous is a nightmare. Fiddled about with delta-vs of less than 20m/s and kept over and undershooting (delta-v of 0.3m/s was memorable), then just gave up.
Is the method of "match inclination, burn at points of intersection to bring the intersection and target position closer until separation is low" wrong, or is there a better way?
better way : match inclination, match apoapsis (if you have lots of dV and too-powerful engines) or periapsis (if you don't have as much dV and more controllable engines, do this normally), match the other-apsis but not eactly (~10-50km up or down). Warp forward, watch your intercepts get closer and closer. When you've got a intercept with a seperation ~5km (although with practice you can get it within 0.2km) get to the intersect and match orbit, then go into target mode, cancel your relative velocity (aim retrograde) and then target the docking port and burn at it ~50m/s (if you have RCS you can probably go a faster and then slow down easily before running into the docking port)
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
you can also fiddle about with the blue handles to shift the intercepts and your apsises a bit left or right
forums are up yisss
seems to be rolled back to october 2012 tho

Yay?
Yay, now I can actually redownload my mods properly and get KSP working.
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
nope.avi. still getting the 'down' message. I'm guessing Reddit hugged the forums to death again.
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
Hmm. they are actually up but most of the header bar up top tries to send me to kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum, instead of sending me to forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com as it should. Also my account is gone. Free name change I guess, heh.
i'v decided to start a new space program. instead of normal flights i'm going to try and make all my landings modular. instead creating a lander and launching it, i will design a suite of lander modules. legs, control systems, etc. landers will now be tugged to their destination by a specialized craft, disconnected, and then will be tugged back when necessary. parts will of course be connected via quantum struts to ensure the craft can actually land.
i love orbital rendezvous and docking so this should be fun.
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
also parts are meant to be reusable. if i assemble a duna lander, i don't leave anything useful on the surface and nothing useful gets back to kerbin. the legs or rockets will be detached, set up at a special space station, and used to assemble a new lander later.
Im halfway though this series its really good.
mine differs from reusable space program. ascent vehicles, fuel tanks, are all expendable. what i'm really trying to do that's different is set up a system where i can assemble different landers through docking and use tugs(like how manley does) to get them to their destinations.
btw i'v almost got my tug station built and then i'll design the tugs and share some pictures with y'all.
Are there Steam keys for people who bought it before it was available on Steam yet? I haven't been keeping as up to date with KSP as I should.
Those have been available for quite some time now.
mechjeb is great, as long as you remember, it will try to kill you if you forget about its needs, like making sure that the thing is oriented towards your intended direction....
case in point, i launched that bigass new bobcat fuel depot module to duna, 4 nerva engines, the boosters off of the shuttle, and mechjeb did almost all without any problems, landed pinpoint in the big crater on duna, then i launched a habbitat to connect to it, got all the way to duna, realised that mechjeb was covering the hatch and that the docking port was 1 foot too low, relaunched, this time i forgot about mechjeb, watched some tv while it was doing a burn, looked back and it had been burning retrograde the entire time, so my habitat came crashing back down, tried again, mechjeb screwed up the injection burn and i had to fix it manualy, (i took many screens but i can't upload them at the moment)

I know that guy very well :/
It seems to me theres not enough tiny parts. For instance, there's no stack rcs fuel or sas in that size, which is a shame because those two things would really give you a lot of options in terms of small ships. I can't seem to find any mods on spaceport that explicitly add stuff like this, but it seems like spaceport is extremely poorly organized so maybe they exist and I can't find them.
Seriously, anything that's not actual mods should be segregated to another section of spaceport. (ie all the craft files people post)

spaceport is horrible what happened to kerbal.net or w/e
Fuck; my tiny little 1-man pod I'm trying to dock to the station (so I can control the thing) bumped it on a near miss of the docking port. Now it's rotating and I have to try and deal with that, a fiddly sensitive ship, and no way to slow the rotation. Fun learning cliff, but wow.
spaceport is horrible what happened to kerbal.net or w/e
Kerbal.net was taken down because the creators didn't want to steal the thunder from spaceport. (IMO a bad idea, they should have kept kerbal.net it was like, 300000000000000000x better.)

also they got sql injected but w/e
Those have been available for quite some time now.
I must've missed the announcement. Good to know, I've always had issues with the patcher.
so what happened to eve's moon that was covered in giant crystals?

Wow how old are those? Was this a prototype?
Wow how old are those? Was this a prototype?
No, it was when eve was introduced, before docking.
What happened to the Extraplanetary Space Centers thread in Plugin Development? Did it get eaten by the forum "fix"?
