Q: Is chell an android? A clone? or was she put in stasis much like gordon freeman?
Can you please answer this question?..My friend and I are in a fight about it.
is there any chance of more holy fuck it worked?
Yes! My brother just moved back from Chicago, so it's possible again. I had an idea about how to continue it a few weeks ago. So, thanks for reminding me... I'm going to email him and Josh right now.
To anyone who hasn't picked up on it - don't ask episode 3 questions
I have a question, will Portal 2 run an improved version of the source engine? It looks like the lighting is better in those shots.
Sorry, I don't know... it just changed.
Dang, How about a list of options that you could do, And i choose one?
Would you work with Capcom in a crossover fighting game?
Do you play games with other employees of Valve in your free time?
Has there been things like Valve LAN parties where you just play games for fun?
Also thumbs up to you, I'm very pleased that you come talk to us, it's nice that people who work at Valve are so open-minded and pay great attention to the community.

Dude, you are really bugging the everloving fuck out of this poor guy.
Thanks for answering our questions PersonGuy! Its always interesting to see someone in the industry respond to fans.
Mail me something to autograph and I'll mail it back.
If I mailed you one of my Portal posters, could you get a bunch of Valve guys to sign it?
Do you have any tips for a budding game developer (such as myself)?
I've already got some little prototypes working, but I find it hard to stop myself being distracted by new ideas and coding them up too.
Did you not work on Portal 2 by choice or otherwise?
It's a shame you aren't working on Portal 2. It'll be good, nonetheless, but would of been better if you decided to rejoin.
Also, give kudos from pod to whoever designed the co-op robots, especially the round one. I can't wait to try them out.
Any chance you know where I can find a wallpaper sized version of that Ico and Chell image?
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
Q: Does Valve ever plan on making a new engine? I understand this question has a extremely high chance of being ignored. Please answer the first question at least if you can't answer this one. I have nothing against the current engine, it has much potential left in it.
Q: Does Valve plan on adding a multiplayer lobby to Portal 2, like they have been considering for TF2?

He's not poor, he's making 80 grand a year and constantly playing video games, how could life get easier?
I have a very serious question, also:
I read somewhere that valve travels around the US looking at projects and stuff people have made. Portal came from Narbacular Drop, from Digipen, and the "dynamic liquids" i'm guessing came from the power of paint, from Digipen. Does valve ever go anywhere else? Or am i going to have to enroll into digipen?
Two questions
- Did Valve ever decide to make "Portal: Prelude" canon or not?
- If Glados is crazy, does it have some sort of virus, or was Aperture Science doing it wrong?
- Did Valve ever decide to make "Portal: Prelude" canon or not?
Probably not because it blows.
I hope to see Companion Cube again :wcc:

Well played, sir. Well played.
PersonGuy. My idiot friends don't believe you're from Valve.
Q:Is working at Valve hard?
Here's A Serious Question, If I were to walk into the lobby of Valve's Office, would I be allowed to play the Half Life 2 Survivor Game, you guys have set up over there?
Hey PersonGuy, if it makes you feel any better, my first Valve game and the thing that introduced me to Valve as a whole was Portal. Prior to me getting it, I'd never even heard of Valve and I only played console games. :3:
I got the box right here. I never have it far from the comuter, it's good luck.
I remember when I popped in the disk and it said that I needed to get Steam and everything I was like "The fuck is this shit? Just let me play the game!"
Ah. Good times.
And if I didn't answer your question, I'm not ignoring you... I'm ignoring your question. No need to repeat. :P
Answer my question please, we really hit it off at Comic-Con~
Don't know if you would know, but do you know if this is prerendered or ingame shots?

Same thing I wanted to know when I saw that
Do you play games with other employees of Valve in your free time?
Sure! Make a mod. And I don't mean to just prototype it... get it to a point where you're comfortable with other people playing it and learn from that experience. Prototyping is easy and you'll learn a lot more from finishing something.
So you could look at all the prototypes you have so far, think about which of them had the most potential, the figure out how long it would take to get it in a state where people can play it. It doesn't have to be complete, just playable. Try to set a goal that's as near as possible... so a year is way to long... a month is great. Once you get your game out there and have people playing it, you'll learn a lot from the feedback. Use that feedback to iterate on the game and repeat. You'll get better at making games, gain exposure, and who knows where else that will take you.

750x750 is the largest I've seen it. Here's the slightly larger one: http://jeepbarnett.com/gallery2/d/99458-3/fanart_portal579.jpg

I haven't watched broadcast TV in a long time, but on DVD/Netflix I love Curb Your Enthusiasm and Dexter.

Yes. But, I like the challenge, we're treated well, and it's hard to imagine working anywhere else.

I've never been to Comic-Con. I should probably go one of these years.

Oh man, this is really helpful. Thanks!
how would you describe working at valve??
Haha, awesome! :D

Yeah, I remember looking at the trailer for The Orange Box and going "Holy crap all those games for the price of one?! I'm getting this for sure!"
Unfortunately I was low on funds so I had to settle for a single game. I looked at gameplay for all of them and when I saw Portal, the first thing I saw was "This is the future!" So I got that. The puzzle-solving thing really intrigued me.
Since then I've bought all the games from The Orange Box exept Half-Life 2.
I'd like to personally thank you for the work you and the entire Portal team put into the game that made we wuv Valve.
It's really humbling to be speaking with members of Valve, but it's also very reassuring to know that they care about what we think.
Thanks for posting this thread and answering our questions, Mr. Barnett, and I think I speak on behalf of Facepunch when I say we are all eagerly looking forward to Portal 2.
This video pretty much sums up how we feel right now.

Say PersonGuy, would you happen to know if anyone on the P2 team has come across this yet?.

If so, how are they taking what we've done?, are they falling out of their chairs or hanging themselves?.
