Nether Ward is a pretty broken ability. He can place it miles away where you won't possibly be able to kill it and it still nukes the shit out of you.

considering the hero himself has about zero survivability, it's nice he has some contribution to the team fight after he gets sneezed on by the enemy carry

That's why you generally pick Heroes with low-cost spells to counter it or destroy it before your teammates cast high-cost spells, it's the opposing teams fault for not accounting for his Nether Ward.

Highly dependent on which Heroes he's up against. Skywrath, CM, Lina, Invoker etc all get utterly destroyed by it. Naix, DK and such don't notice much.

Most heroes get tickled, a few heroes get completely shut off. What bugs me is that it doesn't take any effort on Pugna's part.

Also, you take the damage before you actually cast. Very annoying.

You don't solo push when there's a SB in the enemy team
You don't cast high-mana nukes when there's a Pugna on the enemy team, until you know the ward is dealt with

No effort? He needs to predict where the fight will happen, and plop the ward in an unaccessible place, where it won't be killed during the first 2 seconds of a clash.

Lina = 680 | CM = 600 | Lion = 650 | Lich = 500 | SS = 600

If those aren't noticeable mana costs then I don't know that are.

Most ult's in general will do significant damage to their casters.

Sure it's true that not many heroes have a spell that costs nearly as much, but the point we're getting across is that it's not any less potent against other heroes.

Forgive me if I'm wrong with this, but for Magnus to pull off it's signature double RP you'll need to expend 300+90+80+375+300+90+80 (=1315!) mana in a 10sec time span (that is if Nether Ward counts item actives as spells, I don't know for sure).

Putting it in trees or high on ledges keeps it safe from attacks, but if it's outside of that 1600 range from the fight then it's useless no matter where you place it. Ward placement's one of the little things about Pugna that really matters.

You have to learn how to hide the ward in the middle of the trees, or just put the ward in their face and decrep it as bait, since when its decrepified it's immune.

But hiding the ward in a bush is a good idea most times.
