Is it just me or are the ironsights on sniper's rifle kinda flawed?

I mean, it would be kinda hard to line them up because both the front and the back are the same shape, in the same place.

It can work in a way.
You aim it like both of the notches are on top of each other, the dot in the end gets blocked by the other dot closer to the eyes.
When those are lined up, the point which is behind both of the dots is the point the bullet will hit.

It's an overlay. Look at the icon for Ogre's Fireblast for example, one half is lighter than the other.
