You should be extending the hev suit as a glove guard seen when gordon is using the stun baton.
Also the light seems stupid as it will just get blocked by his hands and/or weapons.
[editline]blah[/editline]
It looks like the original texture has a flashlight on it, so I can't tell you to remove that, since its actually on there. Maybe tone the intensity down a bit though.
it's an old wip from months ago
dunno what happened to it anyway
I don't know why i did this. But i did it :\

What about the shotgun? I don't remember seeing anyone working on that.
I feel like the Tau Cannon shouldn't be obtainable, since it's mounted on the buggy, and it's so unlikely the Egon made it out of Black Mesa. Oh, and there's no possible way Gordon could ever have it taken off of the buggy, hmmm?
In regards to the Egon, you don't know what happened to it, as G-man took all your weapons. He also took your HEV suit (apparently when you were in 'cold storage') and placed it there for Kliener and the others to fix up for you. So of course that could never ever happen to any of his guns? I mean the Tau was a prototype too, and that's in HL2. The other thing is, it's been 20 years, so if they were able to rebuild the Tau cannon, AND build a gravity gun, couldn't they have also rebuilt the Egon? Or maybe a new experimental/not experimental weapon in that time?

or maybe because it doesn't fit in the game
or maybe because it doesn't fit in the game
Or maybe because you clearly haven't read a thing about the Half-Life universe. I agree on Corgi, they should be in there, its really unlogical that they only build a Tau Cannon on the car. And about the Egon, we could make it in a hidden chamber somewhere at the end of the game. And if you don't like the idea of it being in the game, you just simply ignore it and don't pick it up.
Tau makes sense, you could probably make it so if you look at the Tau and press use then you can have an anim where you unscrew it and pull it off.
or maybe because it doesn't fit in the game
Dude, deal with it, the Tau AND the Egon BOTH fit in the game, and at least the Tau Cannon will be added as a player weapon. Probably the Egon too, but how about instead of complaining, you just don't pick it up if you find it in one of the secret areas? BOTH new weapons are secrets, you have to find them, or find someone to get them. It's optional, do it or don't.
Or maybe because you clearly haven't read a thing about the Half-Life universe.
are you kidding me? you really think you know more than valve does on how to make a game balanced and fun?

There was more than one Tau Cannon, and more than one HEV suit. The Gravity gun, HEV suit, and to a lesser extent the Tau Cannon were all useful equipment to them. Eli and Kleiner may have not even known about the Egon since it was an early prototype of an experimental weapon that another team was developing.
So, how's the starting train station area going?
are you kidding me? you really think you know more than valve does on how to make a game balanced and fun?
This isn't a VALVe project, this is a mod created by fans who just want an overall enhanced experience.
You don't have to PICK IT UP OR LOOK for either weapon. It's optional.
There's an obvious technological problem with being able to remove the tau cannon from the car, that being that it's trigger and firing mechanism is modified to work though the arm mount on the car, not an actual human hand. In other words, it'd be like removing the buttons from your mouse and using the internal switches
[editline]14th April 2013[/editline]
Doesn't Alyx never even use the SMG part of it anyway?
She uses the fire mode in Episode 1, but the weapon itself was never extended to its AR length. I think that's a shame, the SMG mode with the silencer on looks fantastic.

I'd just use the screw as a handle.

They could modify the model so it would work for both car and human. When you remove it you could probably remove the part that connects the trigger and a button on the car
There's probably no logical place to slip Lost Coast in without major edits right?
I just had a stupid idea, We can add the Annabelle, and Alyx gun to HL2:EM:DM instead of the HL2 campaign

Also we know that the Tau Cannon was fitted to the car by Eli, so presumably it's one that he salvaged from Black Mesa and possibly the only one still in existence. It which case it wouldn't make any sense to find one in some secret area on the Highway.

I'd just like to make a few small critiques on the model
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/0D6IMk.png[/t]
The more minor details I saw is that the groove on the "reciever" is a rectangular hole, the original is actually a slightly different looking groove, also the grip hinge is inside the body and isn't really visible
The only big thing is that the chamfer on the front of the gun looks less blocky in the original, and there is no grill on the stock, although the general shape of the stock looks better in your version.
I did a mockup in photoshop to show what I mean
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/bZOlja.png[/t]
you can see that the front end is a bit taller as well, maybe that's why the hinge isn't visible
So I guess it should be more like this then
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/G1xNoy.png[/t]
What's the deal with saying the work on extra weapons isn't worth it, and then absolutely insisting on adding two (I can maybe agree the tau cannon could be a good thing, but the Egon? Not at all)

The deal is I wanted to add the Tau and Egon from the start, and people seemed to actually want them in the last 3 threads, and those that didn't actually got that they're optional. So if they didn't want them, they just wouldn't find them or pick them up.
But the other guns, Alyx's and Grigori's are both their guns, they shouldn't be given to the player. I'm also against adding anymore NPC-only guns to the citizens 'cause they're useless.
[editline]2013[/editline]
Another thing: As said by Mr.Someguy several times, "If the new weapons and NPCs really bother you that much, just delete their files from the mod. They won't show up in-game then."
I just had a stupid idea, We can add the Annabelle, and Alyx gun to HL2:EM:DM instead of the HL2 campaign
Really we should do this.
honestly why make it a secret weapon? just put it in there like a normal weapon and if ppl dont want to use them they wont
case in point - the bugbait
liar the bugbait is too useful! don't doubt the powers within!

Thank you for the Feedback, I made the AR version just for fun (I dont like it very much). I'm working on the SMG and Pistol versions.
I will use your feedback to make the final changes. I added things like the "bars" on the rear slide just because it looks better (and it is in a lot of pictures :v:)

I'm just saying it seems like a weird move to be focusing on adding this stuff so early in the project's development when so many assets already in the game haven't been done yet. It'd make a lot more sense to get the stuff in the game done first, then add secrets and extras later.
Also, if I remember right, there's a line of dialog in the game about taking the Tau Cannon from the buggy, so if you insist on making the Tau Cannon a weapon aside from on the buggy, I'd suggest working that back in instead of finding it in a secret area.
are you kidding me? you really think you know more than valve does on how to make a game balanced and fun?
don't worry kid, maybe someday Valve will hire you if you kiss their asses long enough

The massive problem with your model is that, fundamentally, it's a very plain, boring, unaesthetically pleasing gun. You've replicated the basic low resolution weapon from the original game, but all you've added to it is a few extra polygons and some random, frankly stupid extrusions. You should be drawing details from real weapons, not just trying to break up the larger surfaces with nonsensical additions. At the moment, you've just got a big clunky gun with holes in it. What purpose do the holes serve? You're not just gonna have them on a real gun; a real gun is going to have a functioning weapon with the bare minimum added on to make it easy to use and fire, maximising efficiency. Honestly, if I was you, I would start over, or at least scrap large amounts of it, because what you've got is the 3D equivalent of what someone, that is completely ignorant of function and form of weaponry, would scribble down in a half hearted drawing. I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm just being honest, because as it stands, that is not on par with the other assets in the game. You need to take it back to the drawing board, plan what you're going to add in advance, instead of just banging polygons together in your modelling program. Just recreating the original weapons with more polygons does not suffice.
