Remember, it might look like a scrotum that's taken one too many trips through a lawn mower, but the headcrabs are aliens. It would make sense for them to look drastically different from your average earth animals.

It just looks like a weird cityscape encased in a circle with an epsilon symbol on top. Fairly good attempt though.

It goes with the greek lettering style of the original logo. [editline]16th April 2013[/editline] Also those rounded edges look strange imo.

Well there's a good reason to have a more professional looking logo. If you scrolled past a good logo on ModDB, you'd be more interested in what the mod had to offer, no?

And I can assure you most people don't actually add depth to their mod logos, 99% of people's mod logos are flat, uninteresting shapes that a 4 year old could draw. I made mine to 'pop', if you're scrolling down a page, you're more likely to notice the one that's more interesting in color, and shading because it look more 3D and appealing.
well it's not like it would hurt the mod if a couple of uninvolved people made some logos in their spare time. i mean, it's not like everyone here has a task of monumental importance that they need to fulfill and we can't wast any time on thinking up a half-decent logo. surely if you really can't provide anything other than graphic design, it wouldn't hurt to make a decent mock-up or two?
Can't say I found the "3D" logo so appealing. As Mech Bgum said, it's a cheap effect. Just play around with the layer effects for a second and bam, you got the effect. The plain ones look much more interesting and more appealing, even if it doesn't stand out. If you want to stand out, then you should try to create a logo which isn't [I]only[/I] made out of cheap effects you used on the layer. The city on the inside was a nice touch, in my opinion. HL2 plays out in City 17, it could remind people of that. It did for me for instance.

Then again, that's Fallout/STALKER logic, Half-Life's sci-fi is of the harder variety.

I quite like the skyline version. Why not add the Citadel, though? Easily the most iconic building in HL2.
