I wasn't just insulting, you know. And why am supossed to be respectful when you're tossing boxes on every argument you don't agree with?
Guys please cool it. This argument/conversation or whatever isn't going to get us anywhere useful. You don't like his logo, we get that. Please tell him which improvements he should make or make one yourself. No I don't expect you to know how to make one and I don't know if you can, but if you are going to 'criticize' peoples work at least suggest improvements first rather than just stating 'God you suck at visual design'.
What do you guys think of something like this for the logo? Nice and simple. Also evokes HL3 :v:.

Texture complete! I don't feel like working on this right now and it works without all the other details I could have added. Maybe will update it in the future. The archive contains 3 textures in 2048x2048, PNG format. One as the original, one without the grate, and only the grate with 128:128:128 gray alpha.
Can you send me .tga files of the textures, that way they're not compressed?[sub]add me on Steam please[/sub]
I don't use steam. (don't have any game installed on my laptop and I don't stay logged in) Also, PNG is lossless. Convert them to .tga.
And making it look like a MassEffect or Mirror's Edge rip off is?
I did make an alt color which removes the association more than enough [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/T0HVP3.png[/t] But:
that's not the point anyway, the point is that you can change the form and shape instead of replacing a singular element and then dumping effects on it

that's not the point anyway, the point is that you can change the form and shape instead of replacing a singular element and then dumping effects on it

that's not the point anyway, the point is that you can change the form and shape instead of replacing a singular element and then dumping effects on it
I wouldn't use my logo either, it needs tweaking, the point wasn't to give you a fantastic logo in 5 minutes the point is that you can change the form and shape instead of replacing a singular element and then dumping effects on it Frankly, I'd ask some of the people in CC's graphic design to if they could make one, some of them can really make brilliant stuff. You do fantastic work for the mod but I don't think your direction for the logo is good.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aSg8NtF.jpg[/img_thumb] How's this?
I did make an alt color which removes the association more than enough [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/T0HVP3.png[/t]
Simple, stylish and deviates from the standard, I like. Best logo posted so far really.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aSg8NtF.jpg[/img_thumb] How's this?
Color scheme is way off. You did a good job on the effects though. Doesn't scream out "amateur".
Colour scheme is easily changeable, just tell me what to change it to and I'll switch it around.
Colour scheme is easily changeable, just tell me what to change it to and I'll switch it around.
I can't actually imagine another scheme on it. I suppose you could try something which is closer to the regular HL2 logo?
Colour scheme is easily changeable, just tell me what to change it to and I'll switch it around.
Change the Purple to orange, change the light orange symbols to a dark grey, and make the Sigma symbol look more like the actual Sigma symbol.
Colour scheme is easily changeable, just tell me what to change it to and I'll switch it around.
The half life logo had quite a lot of different colours from HL1 to 2, the only thing that was consistent was that it used one colour. Other modders usually combined it with black or white, since they fit with it the best. If you really want to different colours, I'd suggest two that are complimentary to each other, but I dunno how that would turn out
Interestingly enough, if you google image HL2 logo, this thread appears. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/GlnmVym.jpg[/img_thumb] How about now?
How about now?
Make the orange darker, there's too much white.
Interestingly enough, if you google image HL2 logo, this thread appears. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/GlnmVym.jpg[/img_thumb] How about now?
looking better. Try to maybe the orange on the lambda logo on the top right a little more vibrant though. [editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
Make the orange darker, there's too much white.
and this.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1c0dpy8.jpg[/img_thumb] Like so?
I think the top of the logo it too bright compared to the rest. I think all basic orange would look good, like you posted earlier just without the white.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1c0dpy8.jpg[/img_thumb] Like so?
That gray blends in a lot with the background. Stick to your previous colour scheme but Make the lambda logo a little more refined. This just looks like the original hl2 logo with an E on the front.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9FaO4Sy.jpg[/img_thumb]
Yeah that stands out more, but I'm not really liking the whole gray and white thing. Hope I don't sound like an ass here. Its just that if the logo is perfect it is likely to make people think the mod is more professional and will check it out. (obviously it is pretty professional but people dont know that until looking into it). If we are sticking with those colours, why not have the inside of the logos white with a gradient of black round the rims?
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9FaO4Sy.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think it's starting to get much better! The gray lambda and the sigma symbol doesn't really seem to fit in my opinion. Not sure what color they could be replaced with either.

See my comment a couple pages back about people wanting to look at good logos.
What about this? [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZpD3QVX.png[/t] [editline]2013[/editline] Ooook, so why do you guys hate this one so much? You can't just rate it disagree and not tell me why, actually telling me is what helps.
same comment applies for the above
you can change the form and shape instead of replacing a singular element and then dumping effects on it

same comment applies for the above
Except for the fact that this is supposed to be HL2, Enhanced. Not some completely different mod. So it should still look like the HL2 logo.
same comment applies for the above
I tried to make my current image a bit more interesting, but I might just scrap it altogether :v: It was really interesting to see what others made though.

Eh, most of them look OK at best. If you're designing a logo, you can't just whip one up quickly, it takes many iterations to get it to look "good" or "proper". Just give it a rest for a bit. Also, since Meepo wanted me to render out a high-res version of the "expanded" version of the logo in the video: [t]http://static.glitchvid.com/mesg/dacorgi/img/hl2_enhancement_mod_logo.png[/t] THIS IS OLD, NOT TRYING TO THROW MY SHIT IN WITH YOUR GUYS'S STUFF
