Although it would be funny to have 'funny accents', I wouldn't do funny accents, HL2 isn't meant to be a comedy (true it does have a few funny parts, but the tone is pretty serious). Having 'silly accents' would just ruin the atmosphere of HL2. Where as having them talk in different languages or with actual accents, and not ones that sound like Pavel Chekov, would add to the atmosphere that people are being shipped in from all over the world. Something VALVe's creators expressed they would've wanted to have done.
I think I can do an okay Spanish accent but wait I can only do it good when I'm speaking spanish ;_;
No nuclear wessels? :v:
It's a Russian Inwention.
I just want funny accents
Half Life 2 is a serious game, I doubt we will have funny accents in this mod.
I'm sure it's been said in previous threads but I forget, will you be adding/considering adding extra civilians/faces? it would be pretty cool to have all you amazing modders working on this game as citizens for all your hard work or something :3
We can't do accents anyway unless someone has a studio level voice, mic, talent, and recorder, and is willing to recite every citizen line in HL2. So far I think the plan is to just add the localised voices from the other versions.

In that case, I'd fully support accented vocals in addition to the others. It'd help spice up rebel bases without making you wonder why people are speaking to each other in different languages :v Especially good for people who address the player, it'd be an odd coincidence if every citizen that needed to speak with you just happened to be American. Hell it'd be odd for them to all be English, but whatever!
I say have different accents, and a couple of the swears or other small words and phrases (ie the line "This is Bullshit") said in the intended native language. So, a guy with a spanish accent would maybe say "Esto es mierda" instead of the line I mentioned above. You don't have to know the entire language, just a few phrases. For another example, a guy with a russian accent could occasionally say Да (Da) instead of "Yes." Just an idea. It would give background to the accents, if you do make accents. Also excuse me if my personal translation to spanish is crap. My spanish isn't the best.
Also I made this 'cause I was bored. Basically just my take on the extended Barney scene. Also, alternate ending, with the Lambda guys. Maybe you could have them being one of the groups getting arrested, hence Freeman wondering off without any direction? Enjoy :v:
Sounds like a hacked up mix between the alpha and the released, Would be weird to see lambda on certain citizens, though interesting as well. It really makes the concept of added voices seem worth it. (and would probably stretch the game time out more since people will want to see every modded aspect to the game)
Well the Lambda thing is just an alternate ending, like I said. I'm not sure if I'd want it used, since CP evidently crack down on people for simply sitting too close together in public.
Well, that's one environment texture folder down (except for one texture, which I'm having trouble with, so I'll come back to it later)! Only 9 more folders left! :v: [t]http://i.imgur.com/GTXUJyj.jpg[/t]
Need some SSBumps for a few of them? Keep it up lad, you're doing awesome.
Thank you! Yeah, hopefully most, if not all textures will have SSBump maps. Only thing is, I don't know how to make them, so hopefully Glitchvid or one of the other team members can help me with that.
I have a programme that does them, I was offering to help. :v:
Ooooh, heh... :downs: Ok, then! I'll upload the textures to the SVN today so you can have a go at them.

I know that the discussion of Gordon's flashlight has probably been dropped but I think it would only make sense if Gordon had a HEV helmet with a flashlight on it. I'm saying this because he can only zoom in and view his current health, ammo and power levels once he puts the suit on. Unless the suit projects the image onto his magic glasses. Sorry if I'm late to the flashlight discussion :S

And the HUD should not be explained realistically either, it's a video game after all. That being said I like how far this mod is going.

You could also opt for a glasses hud, you could have light blurs at the far corners of the hud.
I think a helmet would make more sense. Besides, glasses were never the best protection VS a headcrab smother.
I think a helmet would make more sense. Besides, glasses were never the best protection VS a headcrab smother.
Neither were helmets :v: [t]http://combineoverwiki.net/images/d/da/Zombie_grunt.jpg[/t] [t]http://combineoverwiki.net/images/d/d4/Zombine.jpg[/t]

Maybe Gordon's helmet has been sprayed with headcrab repellent. That's a good counter-argument right? :v:
it's a video game who cares
it's a video game who cares
B-but, Daaaaaad.
