What resolution do you run TF2 at?
1024 x 768 I'm pretty sure.
get an 8800 gt(x) and more RAM
i run it great on highest settings with 8800 gt and 4 gigs of ram
The 8800GTX is a very old card now, a ATI 4770 is a very good deal, but if you have more cash perhaps go for a 4870 or a GTX260.
Why would you recommend him an older card?
It's not a very old card at all, still supports all of my games on high settings, can play crysis almost perfectly on highest settings, and it's not too expensive.

Does anyone know the current best nVidia card?

Also, which is better, MSI, BFG, XFX, or w/e else?
thanks for all the help and suggestions guys

it's better than a 4770
Your ram is fine.
I have a very good pc.
Core 2 duo E8600 3.16
Ati 4870 1gb
Intel dp4sg Extreme
2gb ddr3 ram.
I just have 2gb of ram and i can run Crysis maxed out. (it is ddr3 tough)
it's all in the ram baby.
I use:
Intel pentium 4 oc'ed 3.10 3.0
2.50gb ram
nvidia 7800 gs 256mb vram
windows xp
my computer is worse than yours, technically. But i can run bioshock on high.
7800 > 8400

OP Tf2 can run on a single core fine but bioshock won't 8400 is fine as TF2 is a cpu dependent game, update your drivers at www.nvidia.com
UE3 really needs a dual core. that's what you're missing.

Thank you, that's the info I was looking for.
The lighting in Bioshock is a lot more demanding.
