-Mods
-Non-repetitive gameplay
-More DLC (may be a bad thing)
-Actual RPG Elements (talk to people, items, etc)
-More diverse enemies
this
I have never played FO3... But I like borderlands. But it all depends what kind of gamer you are, you like RPS or just FPS.
Fallout 3 can be a FPSRPG with mods.
Borderlands is all: YOUR GUN ISN'T LEVEL 10 YOU CAN'T KILL DIS!
OR DIS GATE NO OPEN CUZ U AIN'T LEVEL 14!
Fallout 3 is more: hey man, you can kill everything because we make monsters level with you, but mods can fix that, the whole world is open by the way, have at it!
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Borderlands is repetitive and boring, Fallout 3 feels like a mod, has a bad story, bland visuals and poor combat.
What's all that about Borderlands and "RPG"?
To me it looks like they mean "grind" instead.
Fallout 3 is an RPG first, FPS second.
Fallout, atleast it has mods and doesn't bore the shit out of you.
I also found fallout to be more atmospheric.
Fallout 3. I enjoyed all the DLCs but Mothership Zeta sucked and pretty boring.
You will get to cry in FO3 but not in Borderlands.
Story in Fallout 3, it's deep (still can't beat BioWare's games). Unlike Borderlands paper-thin story. It'd take you more than finish the game to understand everything, mostly reading the Fallout Wiki.
Whoa, I'm so surprised how many more votes FO3 got. I'm glad nobody likes Borderlands, actually :D

Fallout 3 is better because you cried?
Borderlands with the DLC's if you get people to play with. Stay miles away from the singleplayer. Otherwise get Fallout.
Or just do what I did and play both.
I swear there was a "Borderlands or Fallout 3" thread last week.
It isn't a prequel, where did you get that idea?
Fallout 3 is memorable for one reason. It was so goddamned bad that I'll never forget it.

Hardly, it's the same stale voice actor in the same stale block of wasteland copied a few hundred times. Honestly, I don't get how anyone can like that game. Morrowind was bethesda's last good game, buy that or Borderlands. Skip fallout 3.

Morrowind was bethesda's last good game
ahahahahahahaha
Borderlands isn't good, it's boring, way too easy, hideous and not good for the eyes, and also pretty buggy and forces you to pay to unlock extra content.
Whereas with Fallout 3, you can get the GOTY which is cheaper and the game looks better, has less bugs and is actually moddable.
It also has Gob, who is one of the best game characters ever for just hitting a radio 9000 times while saying WORK DAMNIT WORK WORK GODAMNIT.

I'm going to go with Fallout 3. Borderlands is a decent game with fun coop (provided you're among friends) and the random equipment system is rather nice, but in the long run Fallout 3 will give you more fun. Even if you decide there's a glaring problem with the game, it's like Oblivion in that there's a mod for everything.
When I started playing borderlands, I thought it was going to be an awesome game. It became worse by every hour. The quests became 'alright kill 10 of those monsters and grab that item which lies on the table and bring it to me for some experience points'. Quest's aren't fun.
There was actually a whole world in fallout to explore and I found the story quite good, except for some parts I found a little vague, but the game overall was good. And I've never used a single mod.
Now however, I came to a place and I'm stuck at it. I just walk in and litteraly freeze and cannot move or fire, only look around me. Even noclip cheats do not work.
But I go for fallout 3.
Fallout 3.
Get ready to waste an entire month of your lifespan!
Fallout 3 had a nostalgic atmosphere that I never experienced in any other game

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?? It looks different everywhere you go! Oh you might be thinking about the only bad thing is that it used the same tunnels everywere but it didnt matter! It was fucking great. the Voice actors were great and how many people did borderland contain, what 5!? Try to make different voices for fucking over maybe a 1000 characters just to be downtalked on the internet. Oblivion pwns, Fallout 3 pwns and i havent tryed morrowind.
Just give it a rest. You may say you dont like the game but DOWNTALK PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY HAVE A FUCKING POINT AND YOU KEEP PRESISTING TO DOWNTALK THEM. If you dont like a game, FINE, but dont go around saying people its a bad game just because you think so. just gtfo and dont say anything.
I own both games, and to be honest I like them both. But the one I played the most before putting it down was Fallout 3. Sure I had 26 hours played on my Soldier after 2 days, but I have over 250 hours on Fallout 3, and that's just with Broken Steel. So my vote goes for FO3. Love them both though.

Those are really fun with friends, not so much singleplayer.

You cried in fallout 3? Did you cry when you watched the toy story 3 trailer because they're going away?
Those are really fun with friends, not so much singleplayer.
If you're playing borderlands singleplayer you're doing it wrong.
btw every game is repetitive seriously you do one thing more than once you could play as the same character . it is called REplayability for boths game so all games are repetitive to a piont and as long as people like them have good stories and shit and they both did a good job Borderlands was a hit and Fallout 3 was game of the year 2008 so dont say they suck
:wtf:
I preferred borderlands. I completed fallout 3 multiple times in an attempt to like it, thinking I was missing something that everybody else loved so much, but still no, I didn't like fallout 3 at all. On borderlands I got to level 50 and haven't played it since, but it did take a while to get to level 50 and it was a lot of fun. If I'm honest I wouldn't buy either.
Where is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. option?
Borderlands, fallout 3 is shit
it's literally the worst game ever put out by bethesda
In terms of stability on PC, yes, it is absolute shite.
Hell, even on Xbox360 I need to install it in order to prevent it from being incredibly slow.
To the OP: Get borderlands if you can play it co-op. If not, get FO3.
Fallout 3 console commands make the game fun all over again.
Fallout 3 is better because you cried?
Well the way I see it, the gaming experience is enhanced (and in ways better) when emotions are triggered on the player.
EDIT:
It's kinda the same way with movies.
Fallout 3 + Broken Steel = godly.
The thing about Fallout 3 seems to be that few people just like it or just dislike it. It's either "this game is fucking shit." or "I love this."
neither
