If it's made by Bioware I'm automatically attached.
[sp]Big Boss stops him before he commits suicide[/sp]
No, [sp] he does pull the trigger, he just survives by some miracle. I believe Big Boss says "I see you're still alive. Good," or something similar.[/sp]
When [sp]Ashley shot Wrex[/sp] in Mass Effect, I was PISSED.
That pissed me off on my first play-through, as I [sp]was getting him to calm down, and got him chilled out, Ashley fucking shoots him in the head, and another two times as he's on the ground, and says some shit like "HE DESERVED IT, LETS GO". I wanted to gouge her eyes out after that.[/sp]
There was some game where [sp]you meet your brother in the first chapter, and then your brother is killed literally 5 minutes later.[/sp] It isn't a story plot if it's a character that's important to the player for 5 minutes. (The story was built around it)
Was it [sp]Red Faction Guerilla?[/sp]
Was it [sp]Red Faction Guerilla?[/sp]
It was.
I rolled up in a ball when [sp] The man who says don't just stand there come in died after a blowout in stalker [/sp]
The entirety of the Metal Gear Solid series got me. It was like growing up with Snake, and the part where [sp] Snake fights Liquid with all the previous combat songs/life bars and when Big Boss dies[/sp] really got to me. But it is normal, we get attached to movie characters/novel characters so why not video game characters?
After every battle in Rise of Nations I'd line up all the surviving infantry and tanks before holding a millitary parade and 21 gun salute in honor of the dead.
I feel fucking horrible when I kill people in games like GTA IV. I always think about how their families will feel :ohdear:
Was it the main character (the one you play as)? I've heard this other guys saying he got attached to the main character, but it never made sense to me. I never understood how you connect to characters that you create yourself, that are already you.
No, it was more towards the people you meet and in some cases have to kill. I had to put my controller down and think about the decisions I was going to make in those games many times throughout playing them.
Really? He followed me and shot the hell out of everything. He actually tanked a bit. I don't recall any [sp]diary reading[/s]. What difficulty you on, man?
Veteran, the bit where you snipe down in the middle of the Reichstag is the easiest place to hear it. I only noticed because I always play games with subtitles on and I noticed he was reading it.
Eli Squall and Rinoa in Final Fantasy VIII
Yeah I get attached to characters in game. Niko. Dog from Fable 2. Jack Walters from Call of Cthulhu. My first spore creature.
what i found cool about jack was that he was just a normal guy that was plauged with knowledge that no one in the world should have to know, he felt real, so yeah, if it's not normal then i'm not.
Aerith From FF7 (Aeris? Forget her name exactly) So sad, just wanted to punch Square Enix.
Veteran, the bit where you snipe down in the middle of the Reichstag is the easiest place to hear it. I only noticed because I always play games with subtitles on and I noticed he was reading it.
I have subtitles on, but I don't see it.
I had a thing for Rikku from FFX back in the day. Fucking cute as hell.
Battlefield: Bad Company. All of those main characters were awesome. I was so glad none of them died.
The only game that made me sad was GTA 4 when [sp]Kate dies[/sp]
The only game that made me sad was GTA 4 when [sp]Kate dies[/sp]
[sp]I purposely did that ending because Roman is much more cooler than Kate. Kate won't even let you bang her, while Roman is basically an easy 100% friendship.[/sp]
Depends on the type of storytelling for me. Generic horror and action games? Not really. GTA4 and the new Prince of Persia, however, had such great fucking writing and character interaction that I felt about as attached to a character as I do in a typical high-quality film, series or book. That is to say when one of those characters dies I get bummed for a few hours and then move on.
No, [sp] he does pull the trigger, he just survives by some miracle. I believe Big Boss says "I see you're still alive. Good," or something similar.[/sp]
No. [sp] He fires into the air, then Big Boss says "That's right. Good. No need for you to go just yet" Then they talk.[/sp]
Depends on what kind of attachment. I can't get Ramona from CoC outta my head.
Bioware is good at making charasmatic and likeable characters. That's why it's sad when they die.
Dom in Gears of War II differently.
Polansky could have died? Goddamnit, I love Polansky. Sucks Roebuck had to go still.
I had a thing for Rikku from FFX back in the day. Fucking cute as hell.
Does being scantily clad have anything to do with it?
Issac Clarke. Real American hero.
When [sp]Ashley shot Wrex[/sp] in Mass Effect, I was PISSED.
You can avoid that event by beefing up on your chat options. I always kill him the first time around when I'm focusing on major skills, but when I play quick to get to lvl 60 I keep him alive and prepare for ME2.
I feel sad when its up to you to save them and you fail. For example, in Oblivion on one of the last missions when a giant gate opens up outside a city, and all of the main NPC's help you to slay the daemons coming out of it, I felt horrible when Jauffre died. It was terrible. All of these storm atronauchs mobbing him. I tried desperately to help him but I wasnt fast enough.
When strickland died in crysis, the last few chapters had a real feeling of despair for me.
