This game is like Vietnam.
It passed off as a "reskinned version of the previous game" yet is awesome.

If I install my EADM version of Northern Strike, it instantly re-defines my BF2142 as my Deluxe Edition. And the problem with that is the Deluxe Edition is that the Northern Strike is broken. Or have they fixed that now?

What are the chances that you'll be able to add your CD Key to Steam? I want to buy this and start playing right now without waiting a month or two, but having everything on Steam is...very nice.

But fuck I must be using the wrong end of the sniper rifle to hit my targets. The amount of certain headshots I've pulled off and still failed to kill someone is getting ridiculous. I'm pretty handy at this game but it just seems to be taking half a magazine or 4-5 shots from a sniper rifle to bring someone down.
What's going on? Don't say I can't aim because I've damn near point blanked enemies in the head with the rifle and still no joy. Seems to just be randomly where I'll put off a headshot and it'll actually register the hit.

I asked the programmer guy about this over Twitter and he said it isn't going to happen, but will update me if this changes

I don't know if this game has hitboxes, just aim for torsos

You need to compensate for the target's movement, more so with the Park 52 and Moretti. Lag could also factor into it. Typically I'll just wait until my target is stood still to fire, as long as they don't know where I am.

I mean it's not as if I'm no good, in BF2, which should be identicle it was fairly easy to be making headshots at 300+ metres, but in this game is seems damn near impossible. I've tried allowing for bullet drop, target movement, lag... Just seems that no matter how accurate you think you are, you still struggle to hit the target.

It's possible to get heatshots, though I don't know for sure if they do more damage. But there is that pin for getting X number of headshots in a round.

It just seems nigh on impossible. I'll try and get a FRAPs recording to show you what I mean.
I had the best experience with sniper headshots when the game came out. Me and a bro were doing Camp Gibralter Conquest. I was capping the point in the middle of the map. cannot name it specifically, the one with 2 towers and 2 buildings on either side, and the way up to it is down seperated paths. Anyway, I was capturing that point when my sniperbro says theres a guy near me, I instinctively turn around and see this dude crouching up to me before hes shot in the face by my friend.
It can be a proper bitch, this game. Nowadays, especially on Camp Gibraltar, it's just a spamfest of explosive munitions. I think they should make grenades and AR Rockets more difficult to use, or less common or something along those lines. Anyway, add ZeroG_181 and I'll probably have a game tomorrow, off to sleep now.

Whenever I [I]get[/I] to play I tend to get a lot more kills easier then other games. Hitboxes are probably just larger then source engine :frown:
Oh man I haven't played 2142 in forever. It's ironically because I use the box it came in to prop up my keyboard because the little legs broke.

The Live EA chat support is actually fairly helpful. I had to wait about 10 minutes in line, but once it was my turn they were able to quickly add Battlefield 2 to my Veteran status without any questions besides my account details.

I did literally everything that was said on that thread. It worked for one match, I randomly d/c'd and once I got back online the stutting continued again...
