Scrounged up my BF2142 disk under a mountain of garbage and dug out the half-destroyed manual from inside the case. Punkbuster says my CD key is invalid. Now I remember why I stopped playing in the first place. :argh:

Gonna install and patch it up. I'll put my name in the DB when i find out what it is. Done, gonna patch it up now. Do we have a Steam group?

Hah, I got it working. But now I'm the level 1 gunner that everybody hates, I don't remember any of the maps and I'm just running around without a clue, hoping that I'm not sucking too bad. :v:

No friendly fire servers and apparently moving the titan is disallowed everywhere. Why do people hate fun?

Why do people hate fun?[/QUOTE] When people move the titans close to each other they're idiots and fire the AA guns at each other and for some reason it creates a huge stress on the server. That and they're buggy as hell when they move, turrets and ammo box's sometimes slide off or spazz out

Who the fuck cares? Having the support of the titan can really help you control the map, and escaping to some distant corner of the map can help ward off potential boarders. BF has dodgy physics, that's just how it is.

Man, I loved Titan mode, I'd love to see an updated installment of 2142, my favorite memory from this game was my first successful boarding party. Blowing up the core and diving off the edge of the Titan with an entire squad and then parachuting down as the Titan fell out of the sky felt so badass lol.

Good ol 2142. Shame is though, is this particular BF is a cesspool of lone-wolfing and most servers lack teamwork. Also 95% of servers are 24/7 Camp gibdicks and cerebral damage. Anyway waiting for the steam release so this is worth playing again, maybe new non 24/7 Camp gibdicks and cerebral damage servers will start popping up. The only server IMO worth playing on is the Tactical gamer server that isnt 24/7 (see above) and actually has teamwork.

I fucking hate all 24/7 servers in any games. The game comes with more than a single map for a god damned reason.

It's like they're actively trying to lose.

I loved titan mode, it was just so epic when a dozen pods shoot up into the sky and land on the titan. I generally played as a cold blooded Recon cloaker with the assault rifle. I would cloak past the campers, then turn around and knife them both in the back.

Is(was) Northern Strike actually any good? I never had an opportunity to get it but always wanted it. Also, speaking of pods, I loved the idea behind squad leader beacons. They really encouraged people to join together rather then running off by themselves and could give your team a real tactical advantage.
