They need to make it more like Blue Shift's Xen. That just felt more thought out.
The change of scenery in Xen was nice, until you realized how the maps were designed. It just played out horribly. It got even worse when you entered the inner depths of Xen and witnessed those generic alien hive-type rooms.
HL1 offered a variety of gameplay options during the BMRF sequences, then took most of them away during Xen. Might as well drop all weapons other than the revolver and crossbow.

I know many will probably disagree with this, but I always imagined a redesigned Xen as an alien jungle. It just fits with the music from the original game that played when you fought the gonarch:

When I hear that, I immediately get this picture of being chased (by a giant ballsack) through a dark, looming and alien, Heart of Darkness-esque jungle. But maybe that's just me.
Improved the Security Guard hands and made an armour pickup for the battery for Black Mesa Insecurity.

Those hands look great. Are those the BM hands, or your own model (if the former, did you get rid of the finger plates or just hide them really well?)
EDIT: He did the spas-12

Looks pretty nice, but the kickback on the firing animation is kind of underwhelming, especially for how powerful the weapon is.

The hand model started life as a hack which I modified more and more until now its completely custom. The sleeves were taken from the guard model of bm, although now its alot more detalied, texture and poly wise. And the hands are custom now but they never were the hev hands.
As for that guys re-animation project could I please get his contact details? I wonder if he would be interested in having his animations in BMI.
You should make a separate thread for your Blue Shift remake to make it easier to access

I would really like to know the name of the instrument that makes that very distinctive sound, the one that is also used in the King Ramses episode from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Will xen be a standalone mod or an addon to the current black mesa?
Will xen be a standalone mod or an addon to the current black mesa?
It will be an addon. I also guess that it'll be released the day Black Mesa comes to Steam.
The only problem I could ever have with an OpFor or Blue Shift remake is that it would have to look like Black Mesa now.
I don't know why but no matter how good they may be, if the weapons looked different, or props differed there would be a voice at the back of my mind screaming.
Are the Black Mesa devs cool with sharing?
I thought xen was alright but i didnt like how it just took most of the game away from itself. It used to have awesome moments where you fought the military in a gigantic facility while interdimensional aliens are teleporting in and invading, adding to the craziness. with xen the levels had a lot less variety and quickly became repetetive and boring. But as stated before, blue shift's xen had a nice level design to make up for things.

I honestly didn't know either of those were still around, haven't heard a word about 'em for at least a year.
I think someone is doing a Blue Shift mod using Black Mesa content (and custom content when needed), though.
You know, remaking BS using Black Mesa really will make it seem like an expansion pack
HUD test2, still need someone to rig up the hands btw!

What someone should do is make variations of the BM weapons as a "HD Pack" variation, with M4-MP5's, Berretta's, stock SPAS-12, etc.
The vid I posted above has the stock

I think it fit well enough, it sounds very bizarre and strange, just like Xen.

Yes, Black Mesa was released under a non-commercial Creative Commons License, but I doubt Tripmine Studios (creators of GD and OBM) will use BM's assets. One of the reasons artists make high quality mods is to build portfolios, so they have to make their own art and by having a motivation they also gain experience.
I dont know if this has been stated before, but theres a headcrab weapon in the game. If you use the give command, a pink&black checkerboard overlays your screen, you take damage, and headcrab attack noises play constantly until you click the attack button, launching a dead headcrab in the direction you aim. Apparently headcrabs were to originally latch onto your head.

There have been development videos of this for years. And there's a fix on gamebanana, if you're looking for one

I'm sure someone will release a black mesa pack for these mods though for people that want a streamline game, not to offend the devs.

It sucks that 4 weeks after this game was released almost no one cares about it anymore.
