Did they ever fix the awkward immersion-breaking animation bugs in Omega's cutscenes?
To this very day when I go see Anderson on the Citadel in ME2 Garrus floats across the screen behind me. They don't really prioritize these bugs. [editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
I played Mass Effect 1 on release and I really liked it a lot, it was refreshing and different for once. Espcially with all the lore and background. So for many years I have not touched Mass Effect 2 or 3 until two weeks ago, I decided to get both of the sequels and play through it. Oh boy, I am quite disapointed by them. A lot of people seem to praise the series but I don't find them to be really oustanding. Mass Effect 2 was decent enough, although I expected far more. The story was quite basic and there were a lot of missions inbetween that delayed the very few story missions. The fighting is decent but not really that engaging, the skills are quite boring and overall the mechanics are workable. The universe and dialogues are clearly the best part that kept me playing on. The ending was also quite innovative. Some of the characters are totally annoying though, I don't even know why I recruited a few of them, I never bothered with them anyway. Like Jack, the Asari Justiciar or Tali. It was also far to linear for my taste. So I was quite excited to play the third installement because I heard that the game itself is quite good, I was totally disapointed. The dialogues are heavily reduced and the option to even remove the dialogue options is an outrage. The combat mechanics are better but overall it's not really a good third person shooter, nor is it a real rpg in any way. Also some of the graphics got worse and the animations are really odd. I'm not very far into the game but I have no appeal to continue the game. The characters are also quite boring. What a waste of money.
2 had the best characters in the series what are you on about.
Mass Effect 2 has some good characters but some were really uninteresting and highly annoying. Also the mission design to gain their loyality is really dumb. You gain a member and then he has a problem that you need to solve, some of the missions were really good but other ones were just annoying. Also some characters are less interesting. For instance Jack is a total bitch and stereotypical bad girl, when she joined me I talked to her once and she needed my help. The next I heard from her was her deathscream when she got hit at the Omega jump.
So you didn't talk to any of them after helping them? I'd at least expect that you'd talk to Thane. Or Garrus. Or even fucking Jacob. Nobody?
So you didn't talk to any of them after helping them? I'd at least expect that you'd talk to Thane. Or Garrus. Or even fucking Jacob. The dialogues and crew parts is the heart of the game.
Congratulations, you missed out on character development. And are a terrible person for getting your teammates killed.
Why the hell wouldn't you talk to Tali?
Tali was the companion that annoyed me the most out of everyone. Her voice just irritated me.
Tali was the companion that annoyed me the most out of everyone. Her voice just irritated me.
At the very worst, I was indifferent about Tali. Didn't have any issues with her VA personally, but I can understand the dislike. Growing up around people with a whole bunch of different accents has given me a bit of a headstart on the VA acceptance front. Now, Jacob on the other hand.
Tali was the companion that annoyed me the most out of everyone. Her voice just irritated me.
Odd, that was my favorite part about her. I do also agree that for the most part, the loyalty missions were pretty lame (AKA help me with my daddy issues). Out of curiosity, did you romance anyone?
Hey guys? remember how I told you I wrote my own ending? I just found my original draft for it. Gonna root for the finished version now.
Odd, that was my favorite part about her.
I agree, i also noticed after starting 1 again, her voice really matured across the three games. This made me think of other things. Such as the fact that she was effectively ending her childhood during the first game, and therefore making we wonder about her age across the games. Especially because of all the sex.

Seeing as how ME1 starts in 2183, that would make her 22, and 24 in the subsequent games. Not that I know or anything.
Are they still doing weekend challenges, or are those over?
over.
Tali was the companion that annoyed me the most out of everyone. Her voice just irritated me.
I don't really understand how the hell she became an [sp] admiral [/sp] in ME3. She is only like 25 and we see her leading a team twice, both times they end up dying.

After all, they were (unsuccessfully) attempting to retake their homeworld.
Personally I love Leviathan. It's either that or the Citadel which grabs my top place. Think they'll have to share a joint first. Other people differ. If you like doing a bit of "detective" work then you'll like it. It kinda ends [sp]in a weird way though. It gets better and better and bet- and it just stops.[/sp] That's how I felt about it anyway. Still thoroughly enjoyed it though.
I felt like Leviathan should be in the core game, it's so important, [sp]leviathans created reapers, they are even mentioned in the end by that kid...[/sp]

I am not saying that Mass Effect is a bad series, I simply think that it is overrated. The gameplay mechanics are really functional at best and fairly mediocre. Do I have to force myself to play some missions to aknowledge that the game is awesome?
Just as clarification, who other than Jack died during your playthrough?
During the last mission the Asari Justiciar died, Jack, Tali, Jacob and Legion. It was quite saddened to see Jacob and Legion die, they were one of my favorite characters.
I've just had an odd thought. In ME3, Donnelly noted that when Asari hit the matriarch stage, their breasts are obviously bigger- ie Samara and Benezia. I remembered that it was said that matriarchs are valued for their wisdom and knowledge. So I though, rather offhandedly, and since Asari anatomy isn't quite known to humans, maybe that's where the knowledge goes. Someone said a while ago that even Liara by ME3 was "smuggling watermelons" and she was the Shadow Broker by then, and had all the galaxy's dirty little secrets in her grasp. It was a really slow day at work.

I've decided I'm going to buy one thing from the Bioware store, but I have NO idea what to get. Any suggestions?
Jacob favorite character.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Come on, you do have to admit he was pretty much the (somewhat) normal character for that game. Its also probably why he's so...ignored, he has no actual quirk to his life other than the usual daddy issues.

When you do that you miss the depths the character has. I agree the gameplay isn't the best, but it's solid in 2 and much better in 3. I'm willing to forgive the gameplay only being average in 2, given the attention they put into the characters.
